Carey Mulligan is all smiles as she spends time in the sun on Bondi Beach on Saturday (August 27) in Sydney, Australia.

The 26-year-old English actress, who’s in town to film The Great Gatsby, spent some quality time with co-star Tobey Maguire, his wife, Jennifer Meyer, and their kids.

Earlier in the week, Tobey and Carey checked out a performance at the Sydney Opera House.

The Great Gatsby is set for a theatrical release in November of 2012.

^Eh? Nobody else around her is in swimwear attire. Why would she be? It's not even summer in Australia.

Well, is it not warm? Is it cold? Because everybody's wearing shorts and a t-shirt, not a sweater and jeans. I've never been to Australia, so I don't know. But generally, when you go to the beach, you plan to get into the water, hence the bikini or bathing suit of some kind. I just don't like the outfit. It looks more like she's going to the gym or a basketball game than the beach.

The water is way too cold to swim with any comfort at the moment. It is warm-ish but the air is still relatively cold. You go to the beach in late winter/autumn in sydney either because a) you're a tourist or b) you've got a young family and you want to get out of the house.

Well technically it's nearly the end of winter in Australia at the moment. Not cold, not hot. Though Tobey and the guy with them look wet, almost looks like they are sweating. I don't know, it seems strange considering how covered up they were the other day. To me, it looks like they were just hanging around at the beach for a while.

Ah. Thank you well-traveled people. I hope to go to Australia myself one day, and know now not to pick this time of year. Anyways, because I hate to be totally negative, about this outfit I will say...nice...sunglasses. And nice to see she and Tobey are hanging out alot. Is he playing Nick or Mason?

^ Tobey s playing Nick, I think he's pretty perfect for it. Also, while the shorts aren't my favourite, I think she looks pretty cute and is dressed appropriately for a cold beach. She actually lives the best life. LOVE HER.

So bummed I didn't get a chance to head to Bondi on Saturday before flying back to Perth! It was way too cold to swim on Saturday though, so I'm not surprised that they're just there taking in the sights & working out.
