Signing a face to front a brand is potentially hazardous – get the commercial marriage wrong and the product could end up in the bargain bin. Marc Jacobs’s collaboration with Victoria Beckham sounded ominous, but when the pictures were done with such wit and irony, it looks as if both parties stand to flourish.

Chloé is the latest brand to tie in with a celeb, putting its money on the diminutive French actress Clémence Poésy, one of three flaxen-haired beauties – alongside Chloë Sevigny and the model Anja Rubik – to front the new fragrance (Chloé Eau de Parfum, £35 for 30ml, from Harrods and Brown Thomas, Dublin).

Poésy, 25, who starred in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and appears with Colin Farrell in the Sundance film festival hit In Bruges, ticks all the cool boxes. She has been spotted in the front row at exclusive Paris fashion shows, has a penchant for girlie yet edgy labels, and exudes a serene beauty. “Beauty comes from who you’re with, what you’re doing, what you’re reading, the sport you’re doing,” she says.

That’s not to say that Poésy shuns products altogether. She stocks up on Klorane shower gel and Golden Highlights Shampoo for blonde hair (£5, from Boots) at her local pharmacy, and insists on a rigorous skincare routine. “I always cleanse at night, and use moisturiser and sun block in the morning – I like Avène suncare.” (Eau Thermale Avène High Protection Spray SPF20, £16, from Boots.) She has even had a hand cream created specifically for her. “My friend Caroline has an organic brand called Doux Me, which has really nice fragrances. I have a problem with circulation, so she created a therapeutic hand cream for me.” (Doux Me Ultimate Protection, £14, from Liberty.)

What is, perhaps, most endearing (and likely to appeal to potential fragrance buyers) is that Poésy doesn’t mind having an off day. “In this industry, everyone can look nice with good make-up, good lighting and a good photographer. When you’re given the chance to look lovely, then you should enjoy it, but it’s important not to be too worried, as it kills the acting, and because we’re all like that in life. Sometimes, a woman can look incredibly beautiful; sometimes, less so.” The next time I wake up with hideously puffy eyelids, I’ll take comfort in that.
