There's an absolute frenzy on the auction floor right now - just about every lot is fetching over $1K, more like $2K. The estimates were at least five times too low. I suppose that makes bidding feel more accessible. I bid on several items but was razed to the ground before I knew what was happening! Oh well.

Ok, it's all done - the auction made about $316,000 for charity. In addition to that the auction house gets about $70K in fees, payable by the buyers. That means the wardrobe of Daphne Guinness fetched about $386,000 total.
Pretty amazing! (I misspoke about the average amount the lots were fetching - that was only at the time I was following, but through the auction there was certainly a wide range of winning bids.) Last edited by Lady-Penelope : 29-04-2008 at 01:06 PM. |

The people who won her auctions...sooo lucky! Although unless it was an accessory I wouldnt wear it, just for nostalgia's sake. Did she choose the charity/charities that would benefit from the auctions? If anyone knows who it will go to, please post.
