Beckham named 'Best MLS Player'
 David Beckham took home the ESPY for Best MLS Player Wednesday from a ceremony in LA. (WireImage.com/Getty Images) CARSON, Calif. -- LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham was named the "Best MLS Player" at the 2008 ESPY Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday night. This is the second ESPY win of Beckham's career and his third nomination. In 2004, he was named the "Best Male Soccer Player" while playing at Real Madrid. In 15 games so far this season, Beckham has tallied five goals (third best on the team) and added seven assists (tied for the second most in MLS) for the Galaxy, helping the club to its second place standing in the Western Conference, one point behind first place Real Salt Lake. He joined the Galaxy in July 2007, but injuries limited him to just five appearances in the league, collecting two assists. The 33-year-old midfielder played a total of eight games in all competitions, scoring one goal and tallying three assists. On the international front, Beckham became the fifth player in history to play 100 or more times with the English National Team when he claimed his 100th cap on March 26 against France in Paris. He has appeared in 102 games for his country, scoring 17 times. This is the third straight year in which a Galaxy player has won the ESPY for Best MLS Player, as Landon Donovan, who was one of four other nominees for the award this year, won it in both 2006 and 2007.  I watched the game twice.  I'm so jealous of you! I've only seen him play once and thats when he came to Seattle with RM. I cannot wait till Seattle gets an MLS team next season, then I can go watch Beckham every year!Was the atmosphere really that good?! There were a lot of people singing, playing drums and celebrating from what I saw. I hope you had a good time!

^^^ Yes, it was real good fun! My son (11) had a blast - everyone was super friendly, jocking around and, as you said, singing, celebrating! This was my first time to a "big" soccer match so I didn't know what to expect but it was really fun. And the weather turned out to be perfect too (considering it's been raining like crazy in the last few days here hence all the tennis matches delays).
