The fashion on the show is hit or miss. Theys seemed to have blown their budget on the first episode. The later episode clothes look cheaper. I think Taylor has the best style on the show. Her outfits are always cute and quirky.

I agree with the first episode being best fashion-wise.

But, since this show seems to be exploding in popularity, it won't be long before designers start throwing absolutely everything at the stylist ( just like they did Pat Field, who is sooooooo overrated IMO, but I digress ).

Those Chinese Laundry boots that Serena wore in episode 3 sold out within hours after someone figured out the brand.

I think Gossip Girl will probably take the same approach towards fashion that the OC did. A couple of incredibly high end pieces (like the metallic chanel trench) but for the most part it'll be mid market stuff. They want the clothing to be aspirational but also somewhat attainable so that people are able to emulate the characters to a degree, identify with them, connect, etc.

I think the clothing will stick high end strictly for the high end characters...like Blair. The same stylist team works on this that did Sex & the city...not Pat Field but her assistants on that show.

yeah but it's a completely different demographic and network. SATC was for an older audience and it was cable. Now there is MUCH more of an emphasis on being able to mix high end and low end (which to be fair there was a decent amount of vintage featured in SATC)

I'm jumping onto this thread a bit late, but I reeally liked Serena and Blair's dresses at the end of episode four. Gossip Girl is definitely one of my new guilty pleasures.
