And also, many whales are supposed to be "protected" and are now being hunted. Also, like how they "club" seals, I just think it's a completely unhumane thing to do. The cow is killed for many things, food/clothing/etc, and even though I'm a vegetarian I do have leather things but I look at leather in a completely different way than say a mink or fox fur because sometimes those animals are skinned alive and I have heard some horrible stories of how imported fur gets taken off the animal. As for uggs, I honestly didn't know that Uggs actually used shepskin, I thought it was just the shaved fur, and suede. . . but that makes me SO sad. |

^Cows aren't always killed in the most humane conditions either. In fact, a lot of them aren't even raised in humane conditions - overcrowding, barely any room to move, fed crap (which is how mad cow disease is spread), etc. There have been reports of cows (and pigs) being prodded/electrically shocked to death. When the meat industry requires thousands of cows to be killed everyday, there's no time to use methods that ensure the cows don't feel pain/suffer.
Clubbing seals, on the other hand, has proven (in a number of studies, notably the World Wildlife Fund, the International Fund for Animal Welfare, the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association) to be the most humane method. If done properly, it is instant death = no pain, quick. Improperly, well... That being said, I like her black sweater, especially the oversized collar. Those are my fave. |
