Greetings from Russia!

Here I am, on my way to a Carrera y Carrera event, wearing Katie Ermilio, paired with one of my all-time favorite vintage blazers, and Tibi shoes.

I like a good majority of it, but I'm not really feeling the blazer draped on her shoulders as part of the look simply because it comes off as really calculated. I think the whole thing would have been a hit had she just looked in the mirror before leaving the house and decided that the draped blazer was trying too hard.

CARRERA Y CARRERA MÚSICA COLLECTION
"Olivia Palermo once again is the face of Carrera y Carrera’s latest collection, the Música collection, fused together through melody, harmony, and rhythm. Inspired by music, inherent to Spanish culture, Música is a collection where emotions are expressed and reinterpreted in each of the pieces designed to “waken your senses”, turn up the volume and reveal your inner musical diva."

Agree. The blazer also has little fabric around the shoulders making it more difficult for the blazer to stay on. It's like it's about to fall off her shoulders but she wanted it that way anyway. She probably can't even really move her arms. It made me go, Olivia just stick your arms through those sleeves! I have to say I do love the outfit though.

Take away the blazer and bag and it would be a nicer outfit, imho.

The Style Chameleon: Olivia Palermo
Olivia Palermo's been synonymous with chic ever since she exploded on The City which, sure, may have made her look a little like the bad gal, but also launched all eyes on her equally bad-a.ss style. And the positive stuff's all true: No one looks quite as flawless in person as Olivia does — black tie or blue jeans — even when the cameras aren't rolling and the flash-bulbs from her e-commerce and magazine shoots have quieted down. Of her "typical" day, the always-charming, always changing Olivia says, "I love that I don't have a typical day, that every day is different, whether I'm shooting on location or spending time in London, Berlin, or home in New York. I can be at shoots or in meetings, or in the offices of Piperlime doing edits on my picks, or working on oliviapalermo.com. Being able to be anywhere in the world and have my airbook, iPad, and iPhone means I am always able to work."
Sounds about right — not only is she the face of Rochas perfume, but she also plays style icon to a generation of girls experimenting with mixed-prints, faux-fur, maxi dresses, and over-sized vests. Now a fixture on the New York (and L.A, and London, and Paris) social and fashion scenes, Olivia Palermo may pause spend time with her model boyfriend, but with a newly-launched blog on overdrive and brand partnerships for days, we bet it'll be a while till she (or her ever-changing style) quits.

I was gonna say the exact same thing. You either wear that damn jacket or take it off, having it draped on your shoulder like this WHEN YOU'RE ON A RED CARPET just looks really pretentious. I mean, sure, I do that at work, but on a red carpet? Eh, no way

I've never seen anyone drape their jacket like that in real-life but people seemed to go for that as a 'look' in the 40's+50's maybe that was what she was trying to do? I sort of like how chic it looks as a whole but I agree that looking at it logically, it looks a bit pretentious

These are the same thoughts I had: "Just wear the jacket, geez!" It's even more awkward looking when you see the picture of her being interviewed and the only option she has is to keep her arms by her side in a very unnatural pose. Maybe that's why she has the clutch so that she at least has something to do with her hands?

I find everything else about the outfit very lovely, though. The shorts, the heels (especially the heels!), the sweater, the jewelry, the nail color.

I'm not sure if you're talking about just in real life but if you look at streetstyle pics (like Tommy Ton for style.com) or just pics from like fashion week, a lot of women drape jackets/coats on their shoulders (ever couple of pics you'll see it). It works for some people depending on the person and the jacket/coat they use. Some people who do it do make it look cool and chic. They do it with such confidence, with this look of authority almost. With Olivia, it's definitely like she's trying to be in the 'in' crowd.. Hard to explain but she doesn't do it very convincingly especially with that particular jacket.

I hate her hairstyle, the necklace, the blue top and the draped-over-shoulders blazer. Just put the darn thing on already!
