I think the difference is also in Danish life/style and Russian life/style. I think Mary is appropriate. It is a social sightseeing occassion.

I agree that the first lady of Russia's suit looks horrible but Mary looks fine to me. The cardigan is casual but had a bit of sparkle and it goes great with the white dress. I agree with Styleicon too, they were sight seeing and just walking around, this wasn't a formal event so I think it's appropriate.

I love the ruby tiara so much more than the feather one. I don't know why she decided to pick that one.

They are not feathers they are leaves. I believe they are based on wattle plant in Australia. It is a loaner from the jewelry company. They own it and is the exclusive use of the crown princess only. I think they call it the midnight tiara. It's really beautiful with a black dress on. It's always amazing close up.

oh well, they look like feathers to me. I still don't care for it, the color they picked are so mundane too. The only exciting part are the pearls. I think out of all the jewels that are being commissioned right now, this one definitely missed the mark. I'd love to see her in blue sapphires and dark emeralds would have been an excellent choice for that green/teal dress.

I agree - the tiara looks as if one could purchase a copy of it in a bridal shop. Although it is made by skilled jewelers, I don't put it in the same category as her other tiaras. Maybe if I saw it close up, I would change my mind.

I definately agree with sapphires and emeralds!! I'm still shocked that Marie has a more substantial tiara even if she doesn't own it and it is a loan.

Me too I was utterly surprised and happy when I saw Marie's tiara at her wedding. After that, I was hoping Mary would get a new one that was just as beautiful....and I'm still waiting.
