I can't fathom why someone would want to look so cheap and desperate for attention, but, at this point, I admire her commitment to it. Clearly it's working for her, she's having the time of her life, and obviously doesn't care about making any Best Dressed list or being the prettiest girl in the room so I don't know why people are still holding her to that standard. Lady Gaga is doing the same thing but no one criticizes her because she's not "wasting her beauty" apparently. At the end of the day, Taylor has a ton of fans who see past the gimmicks and enjoys her very legitimate talent in making music so there's that.

That's actually true. One would think she'd be embarassed by all of this by now. The fact that she is totally sticking to dressing and acting like this at least gives her some credibility, lol. But I secretly wish she'd find new ways to shock everyone instead of always wearing the same satge outfit, it's almost getting boring

I've met Taylor and she was perfectly amicable to me and her fans. Apparently, to some people nice is synonymous with conventionally pretty. If anything, she's much sweeter now than she was when GG started () because music is more personal and requires interaction with her fans.

I'm not saying she's criticism-proof because wants to be trashy, but that should be considered. IDK why people are acting like she's failing at trying to be Diane Kruger lol.

It's not that she's failing at trying to be Diane Kruger, it's that she is a young girl (she started dressing in stripper gear at 16, and she might be almost 18 now but that doesn't make her emotionally or sexually mature) using her body in an incredibly adult way, which is disturbing. If it were just the makeup or just the shoes or just the occasional lingerie piece worn with pants or even any kind of clothing at all, etc, that would be one thing. But she's out selling, promoting, and performing her music dressed literally as a stripper.

It's completely normal for teenagers to experiment with style, with sex, to want to shock others, and goth and punk are legitimate styles, yes. But she is not a normal teenager - she doesn't appear to have parents who actually parent, she's the object of media attention, and she's on stage presenting herself for consumption. All of that is a legitimate subject for criticism.

And she's not a train wreck, which makes her a guilt free object of snark. Other than the disturbing affinity for lingerie as clothing, the flashing, etc, she seems to have her act together. Which she deserves props for, but I can still hate on that awful effing makeup.

I've been paying some attention to Taylor not too long ago from here and there pictures and it always baffles me to see how she has changed from being pretty, classy to trashy. I don't specifically have an idea of why she has turned to whore like type of style but I've seen pictures of her undone and she's quite a very marvelous girl to my disappointment.

She really has an incredible body, slender, I'm not aware of her height but she seems to be quite tall (or maybe just her excessive heels) (...) probably everything to be remarkable in the most elegant sense. The fact that she's so cute and could potentially pull off so much better incredible looks is even more disheartening.

Her music seems to be uninteresting, though I'm very biased there since I haven't really payed attention to that section of herself and she also seems to have that same and relentless repertoire (vinyl PVC or whatever that is) on the scenes so it's really kind of weird to understand her goals for me.

The cherry on the cake was when I learnt that she was 16-17 approximatively from the pictures in question I was viewing and I just didn't understand how comes her parents where that so tolerant with her look. IDK it's not rock-&-roll or something, neither even gently sexy for the least just pure trash IMO.

She's 18 I guess so hopefully she gets through that stage and get to something more composed because she really has the potential to look great.

He combination of fearlessness and ridiculousness combined with her actual singing talent means she will likely be a force to be reckoned with. I've gone from finding her pathetic to admirable for fully committing to her singing career by actually going out and performing live. A lot of actresses try to be singers but they do it from the comfort of a studio. Taylor has been going non-stop performing live gigs for a couple of years now. She's going to be a seasoned performer by the time she's out of her teens.

I like Taylor. Her music is actually pretty good and her style is really cool. I love Rock N' Roll and she actually fits right in with that genre. I dont think her career is in the tank, I think she has long career ahead of her and if not with acting hopefully with music.

But it's not tear down the house rock n' roll no matter how many leather jackets she wears. For what it is - pop rock written mostly by her co-writers (the guys behind Paramore) - it's not bad.

Boomer is right that she's burning bridges, which she could regret. The GG money will run out eventually, and she might find touring less appealing when she's broke. Indie artists make a living, but it's peanuts compared to actress on a hit show money. And to bring this back to topic, I think her style is going to be a serious problem for her if she doesn't turn it around. She could be a pop star if she took off some of the eye makeup, stopped giving obnoxious interviews, and occasionally put on a pair of pants. Her label must be seriously unhappy.

It'll be interesting to see what she looks like and what she's doing in a couple of years. In the meantime, I'm a little confused as to how she walks around dressed like that without getting arrested for solicitation. Maybe it's the makeup. Looking like you have two black eyes is probably not hooker makeup, it would scare away the customers.

Agree with most of what you said, by the co-writers do you mean the three guys in her band or the previous members? paramore? I'd never heard of a link between the two

I know what you mean, i feel like if she had some variation, eg. take out the extensions and wear some pants with a cool top for a bit, then maybe take the makeup off and put her hair up? It sounds really childish when i put it like that, but visually she would be a lot more inspiring. Quite a few young girls already use her as an outfit inspiration or whatever, so a few minor changes and she could take advantage of her situation..because then magazines/media would actually WANT to talk to her and feature her more, and for her, not just a shock factor. Damn it Taylor you have a chance to be cool, and stand for things! stop wasting time flashing
