I knew of her from Derek Jarman's Edward II but yeah it was really Orlando that made Tilda's name. I wrote on Sally Potter's film during grad school - know it like the back of my hand.

yes in fact both carvaggio(her first role ever) and edward II were absolute masterpieces. but it was indeed orlando where she made her mark internationally, especially here in the states. i have watched orlando upwards of 100 times since they re-released it on DVD. it remains my favourite film. that labyrinth scene is easily one of the most haunting things i've seen in cinema.

Haunting, yes, and transcendent! Love that scene. Have you read the book? I love it too.

I've seen Caravaggio (and also Wittgenstein), plus bits of The Last of England. Jarman was a visionary. Sad he left so soon.

Looking forward to seeing Tilda as a vampire, along with Hiddleston, directed by Jarmusch. I didn't see the last film she did with him. Perhaps I'll get my hands on that over the holidays.

looks pretty cool. interesting though that jarmusch decided to tap into a theme that is currently so trendy in the mainstream. however,it feels very 80's/90's noir just by the shot alone. which is very much his style. so i'm very curious to see it.

NPJ,i have read the book...love it too.

That shot makes me think of The Hunger a little bit - can't wait!

I think vampires need to be reappropriated from the Twilight realm; hopefully this film resurrects the undead and saves us from all those twee sympathetic bloodsuckers.

From what i understand jarmush had this script / idea for years and had been meaning to do this film since forever. The fact that vampires are so hit right now maybe helped with the foundings etc. Im so excited for this film

purely coincidental then....or the timing couldn't be more perfect for this to finally get going? will be interesting how with the vampire obsession how people respond. if the twees pick up on the subject matter......run to see it.....and end up getting signature jarmusch instead.

but i agree with you NPJ,and that's exactly what i was thinking too...the vampire genre needs another redefining.....like it actually did in the 80's by taking it out of that cliched gothic horror narrative.

Tilda is on the new video of David Bowie "The Stars (Are Out Tonight)" hanging out with Bowie (of course), Saskia de Brauw, Iselin Steiro & Andrej Pejic.
