I don't usually like Salma Hayek either, but her teal Versace at this year's Oscars was one of the best dresses of the year.
Katie Holmes in Giambattista Valli AW06 for Paris fashion week. A lot of people didn't like the fact that she wore an evening gown in daytime, but I didn't mind. If anything, I am all for the exposure Valli is getting. The former Ungaro designer is well versed in classic tailoring and fond of a monochronic palette, and his namesake collections are so elegant that they show no trace of his gaudy designs at Ungaro. With Rochas gone and Roland Mouret not showing under his name, Valli may be the next designer to shine (unless you prefer Martin Grant...).
