Starting from the looks of SS05.

Jennifer Lopez wearing Michael Kors SS05 for the premiere of "Shall We Dance." This collection as a whole merely recycled Kors' country-club cliches but this dress is a showstopper and meant for a woman with curves. But I imagined that Catherine Zeta-Jones could prob. pull it off better than J Lo.

Nicole Kidman in Lanvin SS05 for the premiere of "Birth." I can't believe Lanvin let this good, but somewhat ordinary dress become their Hollywood debut of the season.

Penelope Cruz wore Narciso Rodriguez SS05 and completely ruined it. Argh, the color is a bit daring, of course, but the structure is beautiful. Why couldn't Narciso save it for Rachel Weisz? J Lo. also donned the same dress in Jan. US Vogue.

Sarah Jessica Parker wearing Narciso Rodriguez SS05. What a shame, the two best dresses from his collection generated such little publicity.

Natalie Portman wore Derek Lam SS05. The first successful collaboration for SS05. I think Natalie made the dress look more desireable than the model on the runway because she had nice curves.

Kate Bosworth also elevated this pokka-dot YSL dress from SS05. On Caroline Winberg it looks pretty kitschy.

Mena Suvari wore Burberry's metallic blue dress from SS05. An unusual choice.

Balenciaga vet Diane Kruger wearing the first exit from the SS05 show. This collection definitely had its moments of brilliance, but it didn't start until the pants came on. This dress was more of a museum piece than a red-carpet pleaser.

Kate Beckinsale wore Donna Karan's SS05 gown for the premiere of "The Aviator." Unexpected, but very lovely.

it's odd. I find that the more 'daring' pieces seemed to work better on the celebs. Not sure if it's because their style or the pieces themself. ie. Burberry metallic dress and that Balenciaga number. Yet the more 'stable' pieces seemed to flop. Odd.
