^ that nails picking thing was aaaah-mazing beyond compare! I just loved it!

However, I admit the UK uniforms didn't impress me at all. Au contraire - what's with all the gold? They were trying to avoid some kind of Union Jack overload?

I thought it would be a big story about England whcihc will smooth goes from one part to another, but in fact I felt there were many stories just put together wothout any idea, how to glue it together. In Beijing, they told a great story. I missed that in London.

But in general I liked it. Very nice.

Also, the part where the confetti started to rain down on the Great Britain team and the camera shot to the Queen and she was picking
at her nails, not paying a lick of attention -- I DIED!
That was the best!!!

I usually love the Brits, but that ceremony was a letdown. Didn't they promise us the greatest show on earth or something?! The Chinese must be laughing.

I thought it was great, and a good representation of all the cultural treasures the uk has. I especially liked the kadooz to the great tradition of children's literature. It wasn't too over the top, which I liked.

I really liked the opening ceremony but I have to say Beijing's 2008 was much better...more spectacular and jaw dropping (especially the olympic flame segment). really liked the industrial segment with the sky towering chimneys
The 007 and bons girl/queen scene was so ridicolous and stupid I felt so embarassed for who decided to put it on stage...also what a waste of Daniel Craig...total fail!
Also I felt so sorry for the queen: I never really liked her but geez you are watching one of the most important and entertaining event in the world and the best thing you do is checking your nails?Seriously? Also she never smiled or showed some kind of interest in what she was doing...

i have to say with the wealth of music great britain boasts,i'm sure it was difficult choosing the right music that would not just speak to the country's contribution but would be familiar at the same time. i wasn't particularly fond of that specific soundtrack but understand it in this context. of course,i would have at least chose some dusty springfield and petula clark though. they were two of the biggest pop stars of their era. and in a more contemporary vein, why was PJ Harvey completely overlooked given that just last year her entire album was inspired by england? would have been totally appropriate in fact for the transition into the great war feature.
