^^good question... i felt like it was a monumental feat when i was done with it, but i don't think it left any real and lasting impression on me. I have no desire to reread it, but i can appreciate the work and creativity involved in putting such a work together.

finished Jacob de Zoet a few days ago and have just been focusing on the short story anthology a bit so I can make more of a dent. There are too many stories in there to only read one or two between books and make any progress. I've encountered a couple longer works in there so I feel like I've made a bit of progress. Read Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol' and now I'm most of the way through James Joyce's 'The Dead'

will probably move on to a new novel soon though
