My book club at work wanted to read something scary for October so they chose The Amityville Horror... very easy read and I'm tearing through it. But, the writing is terrible and I don't believe a word of it is true. So, scary? No.

I didn't set a goal at the beginning of the year on this thread (because this is my first day here...) but I had planned with myself to read 12 books, measly, I know but I've been in an awful reading slump. So far I've gotten through

1. Starter for Ten- David Nicolls (started in 2012)
2. Looking for Alaska- John Green
3. The Marriage Plot- Jeffrey Eugenides
4. Everything is Illuminated- Jonathan Safran Foer
5. On Beauty- Zadie Smith

Clearly, I've got some catching up to do!

tarantino! Welcome to tFS! Even if you don't reach 12 books (which is a great challenge!), there's always next year's challenge, which the new year suddenly seems a lot closer! I'm not even sure if I will reach my goal.

Sorry for the late reply! I really enjoyed the book. I thought it was interesting how it was written in death's point of view and I especially liked how the book ended completely with no unanswered questions. There is a movie adaptation coming out. I hope it lives up to the book. Have you read anything else by that author?
