^ I'm not that thrilled with it to be honest. It just wasn't that interesting or engaging to me.

Oooh, cool thread! I'm aiming to read 52 this year (number of weeks). I did it in 2012. But I mostly read YA and chick lit. Hopefully I'll get around to reading some classics this year, too. I really want to read A tree grows in Brooklyn, it's my grandmother's favourite book.

It's early yet, but I'm starting to wonder if I should revise my expectations for this year... I was hoping to read 25 books, but I'm thinking 20 might be more realistic since I'm starting to tackle Game of Thrones and will likely have some other long books in the mix as well..

And I've been working a ton, which leaves less time for reading, so that doesn't help either

We'll see... maybe I'll stick with it for now and reassess in a few months :p

I'm looking for 20 books this year. I would usually aim for 2 books a month, but I am starting an open university degree in English literature (very apt) so I guess I'll have a little less time to read for pleasure. So far this year I have read...

1)Anna Karenina-Leo Tolstoy
2)Frankenstein-Mary Shelley

And tonight I'm starting Under the Greenwood Tree- Thomas Hardy.

Speaking of which, I'm not going to count my annual re-read of Jane Eyre among my 20. So 20 new books.

So far:

I'm almost finished with Beloved, which is contemporary, though still relatively old. And I couldn't wait to start Anna Karenina and I'm like 57 pages in already. I should probably finish Beloved though.
I also couldn't wait to start Anna Karenina. And then I couldn't wait to get it over with
