Generation Kill
http://www.hbo.com/generationkill/

Granted, I started watching this show purely for the Alexander Skarsgard eye candy and I think it'll take a couple of episodes to really get into the storyline, but I am 2 episodes in and am curious to see the rest of the series.

It's tv series based on a book...

Quote:
Generation Kill is a 2004 book written by Rolling Stone journalist Evan Wright chronicling his experience as an embedded reporter with the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion‎ of the United States Marine Corps during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. His account of life with the Marines was originally published as a three-part series in Rolling Stone in the fall of 2003. "The Killer Elite", the first of these articles, went on to win a National Magazine Award for Excellence in Reporting in 2004.

Has anyone else seen this?

Yeah, it's a show I started to watch awhile back and then I had two episodes left to get and the site I normally got them from went down. Eventually I rented the entire boxset on dvd. Yes, the men in it are But I think actually from a woman's perspective, it's SO interesting get a flash into that kind of world. It was totally over my head in terms of lingo and stuff, but so so fascinating and heartbreaking at the same time. It's an awesome mini-series

I try to watch it in English but with all the "Marine" terms it's quite difficult to follow sometimes, but so far I love that show (I watched 2 first episodes)

and I agree with you Meg, it's really interesting to get a quite honest and realistic sight in that mostly manly world

^ I don't think it's serious at all, I think it's quite funny. Probably the best series I've seen this year (if you don't count re-watching Arrested Development for the forth time)

'serious' for me is band of brothers.
GK is also easy to watch for me too. also, i particularly love that scene where alexander skarsgard does an impression of south park's big gay al... hardly denotes 'serious'.
