I don't think they'll shoot the whole season 2 in the Hamptons. I mean like the show is based in NYC and to take the kids away from the city would be like a remake of Sex and the City in Los Angeles. Just wouldn't work.

Plus, The Humphrey's (and Vanessa) aren't the Hamptons kind of people.

Gossip Girl Set to Spinoff

Producers of Gossip Girl are planning a spinoff series set at a girls boarding school by either giving co-star Taylor Momsen aka Jenny Humphrey her own series or by introducing a new character in the fall who is then spun off and given a new series.
Taylor, 14, plays a character who is a self-esteem challenged outsider and struggles to fit in. Any spinoff would likely draw on Taylor’s character Jenny Humphrey in the Gossip Girl book series for inspiration, according to the Hollywood Reporter. In the books, a series of public embarrassments (such as appearing in a teen magazine wearing next to nothing) results in Humphrey having to either repeat ninth grade or find a new school.
It is not yet clear whether the spinoff would be picked up for the fall season considering the CW already has Gossip Girl and 90210 in production, as well as One Tree Hill.

sounds like they're getting ahead of themselves...plus, i have no problems with Taylor Momson at all but she hasn't got IT to be a leading character.

I think they could do way more with Taylor's character than they are. I mean they should've drawn that Asher storyline out wayyyy more than they did. It could've really culminated into a big moment but I felt they really blew it...there could've been a big dramatic episode with Eric and Jenny, etc...

Hopefully they take advantage next season because she is at her best when she is scheming to get to the top...

Agreed! I think it's a crap idea. They should much rather focus on getting better ratings for Gossip Girl. Besides, take away Blair, Chuck, Serena, Nate, Dan, who would watch?

Well, there was an actual spin off of the Gossip Girl books all about Jenny, where she wanted a new start after dating Nate and wanted to be her boarding school's 'Serena'.

I would porbably watch it to see what it was like...but Ed and Leighton make the show for me, so I'm not sure if I'd like it.

I do know about the spin off books, but in my opinion the books and the show are quite different. I have never had an interest in reading the books, as much of a fan I am of the show. I hate Jenny, and wouldn't want to watch a show where she was the main focus and I do believe most feel that way - not about the dislike but about the possible spin off with J. Like you said, you would watch it to see how it was like. I don't like Addison from Grey's but I watched the first episode of Private Practice to see what it was like and then I ditched it. When I said who would watch, I was of course referring to people who would follow the show not just once-twice viewers.

According to the latest reports, Gossip Girl head honcho Josh Schwartz has said the spinoff rumors are NOT true.
Schwarts says, "Not sure how this got out there, but no plans for spinoff at this moment. The books do have a spinoff, but we have nothing in the works right now other than making sure season two gets off to a great start."
And there you have it, straight from the boss' mouth.
Although, it should be noted, the key words in his statement are "at this moment."
