Ok, I just finished watching all the clips and it's obvious they are not following the book TOO closely, esp. when it comes to casting:

#1. Katie and Isabel are not Asian and Black in the book. But yay for diversity! The show has a better representation of NYC.
#2. Jenny is supposed to be VERY curvy. Like, DD-sized boobs. And she's also short (not too sure about this one). Also, doesn't she have curly brown hair? I only have Book 6 on me right now, it and says "she flipped her brown curly hair back".
#3. Blair is subtle. She wouldn't be so blatantly rude to Serena.

^ Jenny is supposed to be tiny with huge boobs.
Jenny now just looks average with small boobs haha.

And isn't the book based around Blair not Serena? Now Serena is becoming the main character cause she's the more famous actress.

^ The book is based mainly on Blair and Serena. At least, that's the way it was in the beginning. In the later books, practically every character gets an equal amount of chapters... Dan/Vanessa get their own storyline, as does Jenny (in fact, Jenny becomes so much a regular that she gets her own spinoff - The It Girl series). The only people who don't get their own chapters are Elise, Katie, Isabel, Chuck.

And Jenny IS supposed to have curly brown hair, I checked my other books today.

aaaaaaaah what a cutie.
i wish he kept his long hair though.
Oh my God, I didn't notice that until you told me! He is pretty hot. His voice bugs me though. There's only a limit to how low an octave a person's voice can go.

True, but the only memorable film she has done is Sisterhood.

It's pretty good. GG is better though. But to be honest, Jenny is so darn annoying in those books. I prefer the other characters.

Blair is exactly how I imagined her!

Serena....kinda reminds me of Mischa Barton.

Isabel is black/hispanic in the book. The fact that there is a black model on the cover, and that her last name is the very hispanic Coates and her mother has the very ethnic name TiTi kind of pointed to that, at least to me.

But yeah, Kati was a strawberry blonde.

I think judging from the clips, Gossip Girl isn't going to be the OC 2.0. The OC became really awful really fast. It became so soapish and campy on the OC, that I was half expecting a "YOU'RE my father?" reveal on that show. Gossip girl will definetly have some soapish elements too, but I hope it doesn't turn campy. I think teenagers can relate more to gossip, broken friendships, and wanting to fit it, rather than say, Mischa's friend Oliver holding her hostage in a bizarre standoff.

Wow, this is sooooooooo Josh Schwarz produced! Hopefully they have good music because the OC had great musical editing!

I can already tell my favourite is going to be Blair, despite the author's intentions to have us rooting for Serena.

While most of the viewers will probably hope it's not going to be the OC 2.0, the CW wants it to be like that. Hence the "from the creator of The OC" to the casting (Blair = Rachel Bilson lookalike?) to the comments made by the President of the CW (Dawn Orstoff). They basically want to capture the OC's audience now that the OC is gone.

The CW is counting on this show to be a major hit. They're putting it right after their best show, America's Next Top Model, at 9PM on Wednesdays. I don't know if that's really wise because they'd be competing against American Idol. Lost used to compete against AI but eventually gave up and moved to the 10pm slot.

ok, am i the only one who doesn't like this? Sorry but if the story is identical with the one in the books then WHERE'S THE SUSPENCE? I already knew everything. That's not good. I hope the first 2 or 3 episodes are like that...
