Help me name our new Deli !
A good friend of mine is opening a new food outlet based in a very nice (wealthy!) part of England.

He just can't decide on the name - he wanted to call it Posh Nosh but can't due to it being protected - can anyone think of anything else which sums up cool, yet modern and slightly exclusive ???

If anyone has any advice on food trends over in the US I would love to hear about them too !!

Thank you in advance !!

I dunno, I think I've never been to a deli in my life ... my advise wud be to keep it simple ... I'd go for something like Deli-Iled (it's deli-deli with the last "deli" backwards)

I can't think of a name but probably don't use the word "deli" if you want it to come across as "posh" (as you say).

And also, try to keep it short - like a one-syllable word. So it's easy to remember and sticks in people's minds.

Hmm... tough question.

Any details about the deli?

What type of fare are they serving? Typical sandwiches like turkey & ham w/ cheddar or is it gourmet with specialty sauces and such? What's the atmosphere like and who's their target market (e.g. college kids, young professionals, families)?

These details might help in coming up with a good name...

i've always thought that to be obvious about assuring quality and status does quite the opposite.....
no need to insist the deli is 'upper class'.... if the quality of the goods and services reflect that then the clientele will quickly catch on...

i've always preferred something more simple...
subtle but unique...

there were some very superb quality delis in sydney a few years back called 'jones the grocer'....
i always thought it was a fantastic name...
down to earth but funky and fresh...
and the quality was so impressive that the name didnt need to brag....
nicole and her sister antonia kidman would frequent the shop in bondi beach often....
it was famous for unique, fresh, trendy food and groceries...

i agree with curious...
some more info is needed...

what is your friend like?...
what mood is he shooting for...?
what will the atmosphere of the place be like?... cool and sleek... cosy and warm... trendy... classic... country... urban....?..

all very important...

i think its important that the name has meaning....
that it reflects his mentality...
and accurately represents his approach in opening and running this deli..

what will set this business apart from the rest?...
what message is he trying to send..?... what is important to him?....
