Casting News

Dania Ramirez ("The Sopranos") has been added as a regular on the NBC Universal TV Studio series, which is returning for a second season in the fall. Ramirez will play Maya, a new hero whose powers are being kept under wraps.

Maya is one of four to five new characters expected to be added to "Heroes" next season, but her character might be the only regular one. The other roles, most of which are said to have international flavor, include a sexy boyfriend for Claire (Hayden Panettiere), a 28-year-old black mother, a surrogate for Niki's (Ali Larter) son and an Irish mobster (HR 5/24).

Nick D'Agosto has landed a major recurring role on NBC's hit sci-fi drama "Heroes" for next season. On the Universal Media Studios series, he will play Claire's (Hayden Panettiere) boyfriend, West, who is said to have "a very cool superpower."

D'Agosto is the second new addition to the cast of "Heroes" for next season, joining recently appointed new regular Dania Ramirez.

Honestly, I'm downright giddy to be breaking the news to you that David Anders—known as the wonderfully sinister and sexy Sark to Alias fans—is joining the cast of Heroes!
Though NBC has not yet announced it, my Heroes moles tell me it's official: Anders has been given the much coveted series-regular role of Kane, a Sark-ish character who just so happens to be 1,000 years old, for the upcoming second season of Heroes. I'm told Anders starts work on the show on Monday.

Heroes-TV.com has reported that Ash will appear in 8 episodes of the up coming series of the NBC show about ‘superhuman’ beings.
It’s been said that Ash will play the role of Dr. Mohinder Suresh’s elder sister Shanti Suresh, and will have a super-power of her own, something which has not yet been disclosed.

"Mori said she is hoping to devote herself to her new role -- which includes acting as a spokeswoman for AIDS issues -- and is also looking for a possible role on the TV series "Heroes," broadcast by NBC, which has rights to the Miss Universe pageant.
"As soon as I won Miss Universe I had this big chance," she said. "I've never acted before. I went to the casting audition and read a script in English and Japanese, and they said it was really good. So I hope I can be in the show." Mori said her role would be "Yaeko," a love interest for one of the main characters.

All those new characters scare me. I really don't want these series to become worse...

I think it's too early to say if the show will be ruined by all these new chaaracters because we don't know how long they will be on. The only confirmed regular is Daniz Ramirez, and other than that we know Ash will only be on for just 8 episodes.

Besides Heroes has planned from the beginning to include people from all over the world. Remember the list? The cast is only going to grow.

Yes, I know, but after the first season, which was great, I don't want be reduced the tension or the quality of the show

I don't think it will ruin it for us...Sylar will probably end up killing half of them anyways

Interesting casting, I'm taking it with a grain of salt though. Sark joining the cast would be almost too good to be true. Its like they're getting the best from every show I love first Dr. Who now Alias all they need is to bring over a few people from Lost or Buffy and I wont have to watch any other television shows...

And gasp anti-Sylar sentiment I think Zach Quinto is a good actor, Sylar is a very over the top character so there is alot of classic black hat stuff that he has to do but I really like his scenes when he's just Gabriel. That whole episode with his mother was really heartbreaking.

Of course I am biased on this subject

I also think Zachary Quinto is a good actor. I just have to watch one of his interviews to find out he isn't scary in real life, lol. And yes, he changes a lot when he's Gabriel and when he's Sylar.

The one who doesn't convince me much as an actress is Hayden Panettiere, but everybody seems to like her.

I see that too. I hate Sylar, but I have to give Zachary the props for playing the role, because it is pretty hard to be that evil and scary and cool and emotion-less all at once.

I didn't really like her early in the series, but when she was taken away from her dad when his memory was taken away by the Haitian--and she started crying, it seemed so real. I think she's a pretty great actress.

I bet someone else has an element-changing power... like the guy before who could melt metal ( He's on CSI!)

I think Sylar will redeem himself and convert to the good side eventually. There's supposed to be a character that's more evil than him. In one of the episodes, Molly said she was scared of someone because they could see her when she was looking at them! Some people think it might be Mama Petrelli.

As for new powers, I honestly can't think of any except for weather (like Storm from X-Men).

More Casting News

A half-dozen new (albeit in some cases familiar) faces to watch for on the new season of Heroes, per the Hollywood Reporter:

• David Anders (Alias' delicious Sark) will play Takezo Kensei, an ancient samurai warrior and Hiro's childhood hero. Kensei, of course, is the original owner of the sword Hiro sought during much of Season 1.

• In a related story line, Asian pop star Eriko Tamura has been cast as a Japanese princess. Tamura has starred in more than 15 Japanese features and TV series and has released 10 albums there. She made her English-language debut in the 2006 feature "Surf School."

• Barry Shabaka Henley is Detective Fuller, a New York police officer.

• Holt McCallany is Ricky, the ringleader of a group of Irish thugs.

• Lyndsy Fonseca (Ted's future-daughter on How I Met Your Mother) and Dianna Agron (Veronica Mars) are cheerleaders, one sweet, one tart, in a Southern California town to which Claire is expected to move.

That is ALOT of money to pay for new actors. I'd like to see focus on main characters and not a whole hodgepodge of new people.

Not all the new people are regulars, though. The bit about David playing Takeoz Kensei makes no sense because he's supposed to be Japanese! I definitely think that's wrong information, I heard a rumour that he's supposed to be a villian

And Eriko Tamura stole Miss Japan's role?

I thought Kensei was Hiro's father, and that he had the power of being immortal or something like that.

And I agree with you, eternitygoddess, there must be a mistake with that actor.
