My only "complaint" with the movie is that I felt the first half dragged a bit, but it was necessary (no useless scenes) and I guess I was too eager for the games to begin

My problem with the movie is that there is not really that much drama. The book is so desperate in some parts, while the movie is just... It's plain. I do understand you can't put everything from the book to the movie, but the games was so... easy. I mean, Katniss never ever really was hungry or thirsty!

Something else I´ve noticed (but probably I´m remembering things wrong) is that in the books -because of the pov- you could see that Katniss´actions regarding Peeta were more calculated that it seems in the movie.

I watched the movie yesterday, and i havent read the book
but i feel that the games part was a bit flat, not too gory and a little bit too "easy".
the "preparation" part or the first 1 hour is more exciting for me.
7/10 from me

I watched the movie and I thought it was good, the shaky camera was a bit to much for me. I did think the games seemed to easy, it lacked the desperation of the books with the hunger and thirst. But I do understand that if they did try to develop this more, then the movie would have been so much longer.

i cried during Rue's death scene and where her district riots. even though that wasnt in the book. i think im going to stop reading books before movies because i just kept being annoyed by things they left out or completely changed. i did really enjoy the movie though. the arena scene was just not grueling enough i completely agree

i loved it!! rue, god she was so precious the moment she first peeked out around the corner the whole theater went "awwwww!" but it was kind of a sad aw, because we all knew what was coming...and i thought that scene was really well done. the only complaints i could have are sometimes the camera work was [I]a bit[I] too shaky. and i wasn't really impressed by donald southerland as president snow- i didn't get a sense of danger and fear from him like i did when i was reading the book.

just saw the movie i loved most parts. i will write it with what so that i don't spoil it for those who haven't seen it

so, the good part:

- kantniss, gale and peeta were perfectly portrayed
- the capitol etc was fantastic. tbh from the book I didn't get a clear picture but the movie did a great job.
- cesar was AWESOME. so was seneca crane.
- i like how they added scenes about the gamemakers lab. looked really cool

what i did not like
- the spectacular miscast of donald sutherland as president snow. he looks like santa claus taking care of his roses and speaking in riddles so that the rerst of us (and seneca crane) have a hard time getting him. even in the last scenes...i get literally NO sense of danger from him
- the first scenes (until the reaping) felt dragged

I absolutely LOVED the movie. I know some people are really unhappy with a lot of things but honestly I think it was really well done. And anyways, I think people need to remember that they can't fit everything into movies and that they also have to add things sometimes too. And that books and films are two forms of entertainment and they will have differences but to enjoy them for what they are.

Jennifer is Katniss. I really felt like she nailed the character down. Like in some of the scenes you could really see how frightened she was because she was trembling (like with Cinna right before the beginning of the games) which I thought was fantastic. And Josh played Peeta really well too, he had an easy sense of confidence and charm. Actually, I thought the whole cast was so, so right. I still think Donald Sutherland was a good choice for Snow (even if it seems like a lot of people don't think this). For me what makes him creepy is that he almost seems innocent and he let's other people do all the dirty work for him (like with Seneca Crane) but really he's the one behind it all.

I'm having a hard time remembering everything I liked because there was so much to process so I'll probably make more comments on this thread when I remember them. Anyways, for what I do remember and liked (or didn't like)....

I really enjoyed the cinematography for the film. I thought the shaky camera really added to the story and make it all the more real. More like a reality t.v. show or something. It also allowed the audience to feel like they too were running along side Katniss which was very effective in telling the story.

I definitely teared up during Rue's death, not a ton, but I was certainly choked up. I wish we had a few more scenes with Rue and Katniss, I would have liked for Rue to tell a little bit more about life in her district, but overall I'm really happy with it. And the scene with the flowers... it was heartbreaking and touching. Was anyone else reminded of Ophelia when they saw it? Or was that just my literary nerd side coming out? And I really loved the additional scenes, like between Seneca Crane and Snow or with District 11 after Rue's death, it added another layer to the film. I thought it was really interesting that we got to see the uprising in Rue's district afterwards, sort of foreshadowing what's to come.

Also, I found it really interesting that they showed Seneca Crane's last moments alive... it was really clever of them. I suppose I had always assumed that he died from torture but that it was from the berries... very interesting.

One last comment about the film (what can I say...I have a lot of thoughts on the movie!), the way they filmed the death scenes was just how I hoped it would be. It was tastefully done, a bit bloody, but overall very restrained yet at the same time effective in getting the point across.

I'm already planning to go see THG's again, I need to watch it another time to see all the little details I missed. But overall I really enjoyed the film and I thought they did a good job adapting the story into a motion picture.

Rue got hit in the chest with a spear and, she didn't even look fazed by it. She wasn't even gasping for air.

^I thought it was shock more then anything and then she had almost a sense of peace. But at least that's how I interpreted it. I could be wrong.

The soundtrack is very toned down. It is classical (none of the TaylorSwift/indie/rock/pop songs from that album), it's all instrumental. In many serious scenes, the director just let the silence kick in a and it really worked. My favourite bit was at the Carnucopia, the sound completely taking over and making everything even more terrifying. Overall, I'd say the soundtrack was really good and it really complemented the film rather than overpowering all the emotional scenes as often happens with films nowadays.
