Death Proof (2007)- Again. I love this movie so much. The effect of it looking like a classic movie gets me every time.

Sightseers - Some in UK seem ready to canonise Ben Wheatley after this and Kill List. I wouldn't quite go that far but he does manage to create a slab of entertaining jet black humour for a very low budget in under 90 mins.

Rust & Bone - Loved this. Marion Cotillard is incredible. The special effects are impressive. Evokes some raw emotions and successfully draws the viewer in. Just wish Marion was in it a little more towards the end.

Life Of Pi - Ang Lee's direction is masterful. I wasn't sure how two hours at sea would hold the attention but I saw it in a packed cinema and it really worked for me. I even thought the 3D was decent (but someone I saw it with didn't like the 3D at all). Another movie with excellent special effects (but very different to Rust & Bone!).

I Am Love – this film is a cornucopia of beauty. The camera sweeps across and almost massages the gorgeous characters and the luscious sets and locations. It’s so stunning to look at: aesthetic richness of the nth degree! Tilda Swinton is lovely and plays the role extremely well. It’s a different one for her, and worth watching just to see her stretch her chops again. All the narrative revelations are handled delicately, making the family’s story all the more poignant. This film made me HUNGRY: literally hungry, yes, but also visually hungry. I even spotted a couple of allusions to Hitchcock’s Vertigo, if I am not mistaken. My one complaint is that it’s a little bit too long; I think it could’ve been edited more thoroughly. But this is a great movie, in my opinion: definitely worth watching. I loved I Am Love!

Rachel Getting Married (2008)

Saw it when it came out but didn't really enjoy it. Saw it a second time today and loved it. Anne is simply amazing.

Farewell, My Queen: Takes a long time to start and built its atmosphere but once the tension reach its peak the film becomes really interesting. The direction is quite weak though but the three actresses definitely makes the picture worh watching IMO. First Virginie Ledoyen, who's very captivating even if she's barely present, the enigmatic feeling of her character is perfectly executed. Expected a bit more from Léa Seydoux yet what she can project through her eyes in some scenes is impressive. Finally Diane Kruger who's mesmerizing here. She doesn't start really well, she's not always "right" when she plays the frivolous side of Marie-Antoinette but she's absolutely amazing in the dramatic scenes. She shows a fragility and a strenght in her acting that I never thought she had.

Jeff, Who Lives At Home - awwww, The story is very sweet. This is a well written and well acted little film that I am glad I watched. My heart is warmed.

Has anyone seen Not Fade Away? I'm dying to see it and I'm wondering it's good or not
