I just saw this one. I agree it's not quite perfect, but overall I found it beautiful and provocative.

Red Dawn
(To be honest I found much of the film to be really problematic but... on the upside, it was like two hours of looking at Chris Hemsworth's eyes...so...)

Warrior-- Oh my god. I have to sing the praises of this because it absolutely transcends its subject (one that sounds predictable, done to death and not really to my interests anyway) and really is so affecting. Unbelievable acting. I was seriously weeping by the end!

This is the new Rocky. I'm sure over the years this will build up a huge cult following. It basically takes all those boxing movie cliches and executes them in the best possible way. No-one will accuse it of being high art but it's so emotionally involving.

The Cabin In The Woods - I assume it's not meant to be remotely scary. I like the Buffy vibe - was a huge fan of that show back in the day - but for some reason I felt overall it slightly lacked something. Could have done with some more genuine scares along with the self-knowing look at the genre. For me, the original Scream actually managed this more effectively.

The Turin Horse - Couldn't be more different to the above. Two and a half hours long and shot in admittedly beautiful monochrome with very little dialogue. A cure for insomnia? Critics loved this but I found it a bit of an ordeal. Maybe I've not read enough Nietzsche to fully appreciate the message.
