Oh I wasn't offended I get that its just a good old debate. But really, it's wrong to be this obsessed with characters in a book (like I am), so I'm a bit of a loser but I accept it! lol

i think that it's 'historically proper' (ha!) to become emotionally involved in a literature. (The Iliad and Alexander the Great= love of my life.) passion is passion, so i don't think that where one directs that passion should be negated and placed below another because of its direction. although, better that than to merely EXIST in this world.

also, james apparantly financially supported remus because he could not get a job. where is this man's pride?

Dude Lupin was a wizard who also just happened to be a werewolf it's not like he could just go out and get a job a Ikea or Kmart. James and Lily did the right thing and I'm sure Harry would agree and do it for Ron or Hermione if they were in that position.

I'm sure that he felt embarrassed to accept James and Lily's charity BUT he probably had no choice but to accept. Lupin was their best friend and the wizarding world is different to ours. I don't think that they have the dole.

We do know from GoF that Lupin had a house (Dumbledore tells Sirius to go hide out there) which I'm guessing he got from his parents when they died so J & L probably just gave him money for food and bits & pieces.

^ work in K-mart or Ikea! So true

I think Lupin was a bit pathetic but he clearly had his reasons. Only at the very end did I start to respect him etc

But they were all a bit pathetic at times, weren't they? Both Lupin, James and Sirius showed some qualities during the series it was hard to respect, and also Harry, Ron and even Dumbledore had their weaknesses. I believe that it was sort of Rowling's point, to show them as human rather than some superhuman characters unable to make mistakes. The only character I can't remember any obvious wrongdoings in is Hermione, and I might be wrong about that.

Well said. I guess it is really the characters' flaws that make us love them more.

Just to lighten up the mood a bit

Bestweekever via ONTD (Fake, obviously)

I must say, though, it's a pretty accurate reflection of celebrity/entertainment journalism culture today...

Harry Potter is a book catered to young children. JKR cemented that fact at the end with that...nauseating final chapter. It may appeal to people of all ages but a major chunk of her buyers are kids.

I honestly don't think parents would want their kids to understand the concept of homosexual ism at such a young age.

I'm watching CoS right now on Disney channel, and had an epiphany...

Tom Felton was only hot in the second movie. Not in the first, as he was too little, and not in 3-5 because he just got ugly. But in the second movie, he was fine as hell.
