I don't have sky one so I can't watch it, but thanks to a kind soul who put up a link for download in this thread, I was able to watch the first episode (so if anyone's up for uploading the second episode, I really wouldn't mind )

I thought christopher's dress was the most stunning and prominent, he really should have won. I thought the white thick ribbon like strips that looped over the shoulders and peeped out underneath the yellow corset reminded me of some dresses from the Viktor and Rolf SS05 flowerbomb show...Zoe's design was lovely too, I liked it, but she probably wouldn't have got that far if Ben de Lisi didn't point that to use that black organza like fabric

You could either download torrents from somewhere like www.torrentspy.com to watch it, or if you have freeview, it's on Sky Three on a Sunday I think.

wow, they are even sharing challenges with project runway

the looks from catwalk tend to look more complete, what is their budgets and time limits on the show?

Well initially, it was about £50 now it's crept up to £100. The time limit is usually between 1-2 days, I think.

I was wondering whether the US and UK version would be sharing the same challenges! I think I may download the US version to compare - sounds like compusive viewing.....the UK version must seem v. amateurish to you.

i am so happy watching them being loyal in the "blame game" during the judgement, i remember the US project runway the contestants really pointed out who did a bad job and should go...stuff like that...

Thanks for pointing out that people had torrents of it up... I've been dying to watch this one because the designers seem much more experimental than in the american version and I'm dying to see Isabella Blow in action!

hmm, im not too good on money conversions, but when i went to england over the summer, the pound was twice a dollar, so $100-200 vs $100-150 they get on runway.

i dont know about the other challenges for catwalk cuz i dont know what they are, but the last challenge for runway was to do a dress out of stuff bought only at the flower market, so pretty similar id say.

and definately download project runway, its awesome. first season is even better.

im downloading catwalk right now

^Bearing in mind, fabric will be more expensive over here than it is in the US. Yeah, those conversions sound about right.

I think I will download that....

Yeah, there are torrents up on mininova for the UK version for everyone who wanna watches it.

Susie Bubble is such a star!

Thank you Susie, so much for posting the pictures!
You were wondering about the fabric and the amount of money we had to complete the challenges. Well, we had to shop in Berwick Street, SoHo. The Cloth House - which is notoriously expensive, and Borovicks, which is expensive too - but Martin is such a nice man and so helpful. I think the cheapest price p/m is about £15 and silks go up to about £60 - £70 p/m.

It's really difficult to go shopping there, especially when you have a budget and an idea already of what you want to do.... and they don't have the fabric you really want.

The Barbour project was excellent, because the fabrics they sent over were really quite something. We were not restricted by a budget and could use as much fabric as we wanted; there were about 8 different tweeds, quilted fabric, waxed cotton, cotton shirtings, moleskin, poppers - the lot.

Lesley, it's great to see you posting about! I enjoyed Project Catwalk, which I watched alongside Project Runway week by week and I was rooting for you since you were someone close to my age!

I thought your Barbour jacket was fabulous as was your design for the "frisky" challenge. Personally, I thought it was ridiculous how team challenges were run on Catwalk and Runway. They have some appointed person pick a few of the best proposals, get teams formed to create the designs, and then expect the team leader to face responsibility for any failure. So, basically, the team leader is being penalised and even eliminated for being the one of the best out of the proposals initially submitted to the person doing the choosing!

It was the same way in Runway 2's lingerie challenge, where Santino, Diana, Daniel V, and Daniel F were chosen as team leaders for having the best design proposals. Santino blamed the weakest member of his team for the overall failure of the design, only to have the judges rake him over hot coals for being "cowardly" and not wanting to take responsibility for his team! And judging from Julien's closing words in the latest episode, he clearly expects team leaders to be held accountable for the failure of a "line".

That's real life, I suppose. But in a competition, at such an early stage of the show, it rankes that Lesley, Christopher, and Marianne are forced to gamble on a 1/3 chance of being eliminated despite having the best proposals that Kelly Osborne liked while Matthew skated by without repercussions despite being the weakest link. It just doesn't feel right or fair to me!
