Red Heat: Conspiracy, Murder and The Cold War in the Carribean.

Without the pressure associated with study (meeting a deadline, constantly on the lookout for reference points with a highlighter pen) i can relax & enjoy heavy handed subject matter. Having said that, this book is well balanced, in that it's informative & entertaining. It does help when the cast is made of political figures with a certain level of intrigue value ie. Fidel, Che, Trujillo, Papa Doc Duvalier and the major US players. Recommended.

This in my free time (I got sucked in because of the gorgeous cover, but I also love fairytale-ish stories like this one ):

i've just finished it. first of all, it is pretty different from Harry Potter Casual Vacancy is way slower, not many things happens until the end. the strenght of this book how Rowling is able to portray her characters and the life of a little town, it is just so realistic and raw. i liked it, but i wouldn't re-read it, i think i'd be bored.

Might be super unoriginal but I am starting the Game of Thrones series. I think it will take me months to get through the 4 books...

I'm reading way too many books at the same time right now...

The White Man's Burden by William Easterly (my friend lent me and I have to give it back!)
Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak (it's just too huge to take it out with me...)
The Collected Works of Nathanael West (I've read one of the four works included already)
Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson (again, too big to be portable)
The Tell-Tale Heart and Other Stories by Edgar Allan Poe (slowly going through those)
Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller (my current "bus book")

I really need to sort things out

help!
i need a book recommendation. i can't decide what i want to read next...i like pretty much every genre, i wouldn't even mind a romance/chick-lit novel at the moment, i just need something light, quick and fun. just nothing that involves a lot of thinking, please (i'm still suffering from the aftermaths of a concussion, my head is spinning just sitting up, i don't think i could master Shakespeare right now)

^ Mm, maybe you would like One Day by David Nicholls. It's witty and romantic and definitely easy to read.

Right now I'm reading Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick. I haven't seen the film because I want to read the book first. So far, so good. It's very insightful in a lot of ways, whether about love or loss or mental illnesses. Plus it's easy to read and Lord knows I need that right now.
