Next Aussie supermodels challenge the stereotype

MEET the next Aussie supermodels: they're blessed with dark hair, dark skin, and the same down-to-earth personality our exports are known for.
Samantha Harris, Charlotte Lohmann and Emma Norris are among the new wave challenging the typical blonde, Anglo stereotype.
Lohmann, 18 - born in Sydney to a Fijian-Indian mother and German father - has shot campaigns for Bloomingdale's and Nike in New York.
"You stand out if you've got a different look - especially in New York," she said.
"I found that, because I was a bit different, there was a bit of hype because I didn't blend in with the crowd."
She will join Rachel Rutt in September ahead of New York Fashion Week.
Rutt, 17, starred in Phillip Lim's Resort collection within weeks of her arrival in New York.
Emma Norris, 16, who shares a similar Eurasian look to Rutt, said she aspired to a similar career.
Indigenous model Samantha Harris, 18, debuted at Australian Fashion Week in 2004 and is planning her international assault in New York.
"All of them have the potential to make it big," Chic Model Management's Cathy Ward said.


"But I think when Samantha goes international, she'll be tagged as the first international indigenous supermodel."
