Guys, let us all respect each other's opinions like the adults that we are. If we can't agree on the same things, then let's agree to differ, mmmkaaaaayyy? Healthy debates are good for the system. Keeps the blood running and keeps us all on our toes, di ba?

I've worked in the fashion industry for close to 17 years. I worked for and with Michael Kors back in the mid 90s....waay before his Celine and Project Runway days. Lance LaPere, MK's boyfriend, was my assistant for three months when he first started working for MK right after he graduated from Parsons. Oh God, he looked like a twink then, LOL. I know Anna Bayle and she is a facebook friend (sorry for the name drop but I adore the woman), I've watched countless shows under the tents and have probably seen more models up close and personal than most of the people on this thread in my various jobs in this industry...ergo, I think I know what I am saying when I say that Charo doesn't possess the physicality to be on the same level as Du Juan, Liu Wen, Tao , Mo, Shu or even Gwen Loo. She's just not tall and long limbed and distinctly Asian enough to penetrate that rarified circle. I've seen her three times alone just this past summer and I was underwhelmed.

I like Charo a LOT as evidenced by my countless postings of photos and articles. I want her to succeed and she is....on a level she probably never dreamed of. But she will never be a major runway success in my opinion. If she wasn't able to be a major player in the NY runways on the strength of her SOTW placing 4 years ago (sorry, but I don't think Lacoste and a stint on Project Runway is a big deal) when she was the belle of the ball, what more now? Chanel Iman did Oscar and Carolina, to name a few, for her first season. Quite a harbinger huh?

New models reproduce like the proverbial lemmings practically everyday....they're younger and talller and skinnier too. It has just become a tougher inner circle to crack.

Okay...have to get back to work!
I totally agree with Gabe on that one. It's all about short torso and long limbs that create a lean, long look.

Example: Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston are exactly the same height but Mariah (at her skinniest) looked shorter than Whitney because Mariah has a longer torso and shorter legs than Whitney.

Also, in the US market, designers want stereotypical ethnic faces (in case the audience are stupid enough to get confused) so anyone that isn't easily identifiable has a problem booking big jobs.

I've seen Manila based models who have better catwalk skills than Charo's on this clip. Probably because the former have had more practice and more experience than Charo?

Thanks for sharing the clip Alex08!

i saw charo on a big poster at Target today!!
and tbh, i dont think charo needs to be "high fashion" to be considered a good model. just like lara stone would NEVER be commercial. but there is nothing wrong with that.

Charo Ronquillo

Oh no is she sending feelers that she is quitting modeling soon to join showbuisness. The lifespan of a model can be really short if you dont take care of it.

Ambition is nice but it should be tempered with a healthy dose of reality check. Looking at Charo's physique in some of these photos, I am not surprised why her agency has not included her in their show packages in the four years since she competed at the SOTW and consequently why she barely manages to work during NYFashion Week.

Girl is not skinny enough. There I said it. Girl needs to hit the gym and tone those muscles so she can look longer and leaner. And that hairstyle has to go! It's very limiting. She wants to work in Europe? Then she has to look better than this. Has she seen her competition for those runway gigs in Paris, Milan and London? Those girls eat celery sticks 3 times a day, LOL.
