I am not saying that she is anorexice either. She just looks sick and skinny...very..very skinny. She should not be put in any ads or covers looking this way. Nobody wants to see this!

I think it's not fair to say "oh, maybe she's not anorexic, she just looks really sick, but that's all". Eva never looked like that, nor many other skinny girls out there. Saying everyone is anorexic is cruel and wrong, but being reluctant to admit that some of those girls have a serious illness is even worse... that would make us really close to all those hypocrites that hail models-famine-victims' look...

That wasn't Anna Wintour or Vogue. You're talking about Harper's Bazaar, if you're going by that show on the Style Network.

I, for one, have loads of respect for Anna Wintour but that's OT so I'll leave it at that.

As long as model agencies continue to make money, this aint gonna change is it? I was in the modelling industry for just six months and was shocked enough by what I saw to change my career.

Its no better than prostitution IMHO

I am just not one to say immediately that she is anorexic. There could be numerous things wrong with her when I say that she looks sick. She could be Anorexic or Maybe a drug problem or she could have another kind of illness? I don't know for sure and that is why I said that I do not know what is wrong with her. There is definitely something wrong and I agree "Eva has never looked like this before". I am most certainly not one to hail the models as famine victims look! In fact, I am the total oppisite. Hence my quote "Nobody wants to see this!".


My point was: There appears to be a major problem and whatever it is I hope she gets help.

What agency were you with? Where did you expirience such horrible situations?
I've been in this business for over 2 years, beginning at the tender age of 14. I've worked, I've traveled, and I've never had anything happen to me or anyone I was close to that made me feel like a prosititute! People can make their own decisions, how can anyone blame the modeling industry?

The only shocking thing I've seen are 5'10 13 year olds.

You know what's really ****ed up about this business? You're ****ed ****ed if you're fat and you're ****ed if you're skinny. You always hear some bull**** about someone being too skinny, or someone being a heifer. I remember a few years ago during Sao Paulo Fashion Week, the Brazilian media was tearing up the models for being fat. They insisted that Fernanda Tavares was fat and cellulite ridden, Ana Beatriz was chunky and Ana Claudia was thick... I've also heard and read people saying Eugenia Volodina has really fat hips. This is after people were saying she lost a **** load of weight/looked anorexic. How terrible.

As for Eva Herzigova... I'm not sure what to think. Those pictures of her were quite shocking, but didn't she say she had the flu or something? I don't know the answer, but it's obvious that she has lost a lot of weight throughout the years. If she is sick, let's just hope she gets help.

About Fernanda Tavares, I have to make a comment.. she was indeed full of cellulite, and I'm not to judge, but if you get paid tons of dollars to look beautiful, you should get your body in shape. I doubt she would show up on any NY or Paris runway show looking like she did here. She was ugly. And so was Frankie Rayder, and that showed some lack of respect with brazilian audience. You know, they kill themselves to look gorgeous around the world, and then when they come here, it's like "uh, holidays!!". I don't think they should be skinny, but at least cellulite-free!!! Gisele has the same look here or everywhere else. That's professionalism.

I have no idea where or when I heard it. If Anna didn't do anything then with Renee, she shouldn't be excused for encouraging Eva. About Renee, if it was Bazaar, then shame on Glenda Bailey!

I agree with you,this is a sensitive subject, so is seeing pic of Eva,looking the way she does, but at the end of the day, let be Real with this. Kids do look up to these models and want to be like them, therefore by any means necessary to look like that. MOST young girls are wannabe models, fact. Younger girls are more likely to become anorexic, due to the bombardment of images of ultra thin girls on the covers of magazines. If some adults are made self-conscious,because they dont look like models(that are over airbrushed)on magazine covers, and arent the perfect 10, how can anyone expect young impressionable girls not to be affected as well?

Anorexia is a complex syndrome, it can't be blamed on the media. I think what makes it occur is in our culture.

Models mirror our ideals, they don't create them.

I also know people who have been anorexic, and I used to be myself. I think I know what I'm talking about.

Do you honestly think that I would be involved in this business if I knew by getting my pictures taken and appearing in magazines/adverts etc were going to "make" girls have eating disorders?!?!?! You must be insane. Ask any model if they are doing what they are doing so they can intentionally create self esteem problems for young girls, they would answer no. You can't blame someones eating disorder on somebody else. Its a personal problem that can only be resolved within themselves.

Well, if Eva really is anorexic....then she does think she looks bad....only not for the same reasons that we think she looks bad.
Some sort of chemical imbalance happens in the brain of anorexics that keeps them from seeing themselves as they truly are. They see themselves as fat or bigger than they are in reality.

I totally agree, perhaps i have got this wrong,and am big enough to say this.

I never said the media forces anyone to become slim or skinny,but the media is partly responsible for the negative images that are sent out in public, and this does have an impact on readers, especially younger ones.

No i don't think its intentional. I dont think all those models were all born thin.

Who puts pressure on the models to be that thin?



Eva was great when she was glamour modelling, she had a fantastic shape. I don't think the public would have objected at all if she did runway modelling with her curvy figure. Look at the shocking change that has occured. I know she said she was ill, but i have been hearing and seeing pictures of her being ill looking and thin for a little while now.

I can't see how anyone can say the media is not to blame. Educate me differently please.
