Friends of Wonderbra beauty Eva Herzigova were shocked last night by pictures showing her looking painfully thin and ill.

Gone were the stunning curves and cleavage that shot her to fame in the Hello Boys advert in 1994.

Instead the Czech model appeared gaunt, her lips were BLUE and chapped and she had a cold sore.

Eva, 30, had dark circles under her eyes and downy hair on her stick-thin arms - common in underweight women.

Her shoes looked too big for her tiny feet as she posed outside the charity bash in New York.

Eva's appearance sparked rumours that she was ill or on weight-reducing drugs.

A friend at the party said: Eva looked pretty shocking.

When she was asked what was wrong and why her lips were blue, she said it was because she had been waiting in the cold for her car, which was late.

Another pal said: Eva has always been very slim with big breasts, but it is true that she has lost weight recently.

She isn't doing glamour shots any more. She's become a fashion model and had to slim down.

Just hours after the picture was taken, Eva met American Vogue editor Anna Wintour who booked her for a fashion shoot.

Her pal said: Eva did not look well, but nevertheless she was booked by Anna Wintour who said she thought she looked great.

HIV becomes AIDS when a person's T-cell count dips below a certain number, obviously not a good sign. Of course you also know that people without HIV or AIDS get coldsores.

Forgive ops: ... I'm not trying to be bi*chy or condescending, and I know that you're not feeling well either ... but you brought up the question of it before about someone else. It just reminds me of the time when the mention or suspicion of AIDS would induce panic in people... :? can we get it from touching a doorknob? drinking from the same glass? etc.

Thanks to a big Magic, we're far past that now as a society, and I just want to make sure you know that there is a difference between HIV and AIDS. The former has become quite manageable in most cases thanks to advances in medicine.[/ot:6feeb6f9aa]

im speechless. the poor thing. does she know
how painful she looks? so sad! i dont inderstand the deal
about her arm hair though. :? perhaps they would airbrush it or
wax it off before? i dont understand that to be linked with being underweight :? does anyone know?

if you're so skinny, sometimes your body gets cold, and it wants to be warm! so it will grow those small short and kind of fuzzy hairs.

The fact that the arm hair is fine and downy indicates that it is completely new growth (lanugo), i.e. the hair that was there before fell out completely and an entirely new growth cycle has begun from the follicle. To illustrate: usually only babies who are born prematurely have this type of downy hair on their bodies because the follicle usually begins its second growth stage in utero.

Because prolonged malnutrition will cause severe follicle damage, this type of hair on the arms is one of several (accurate) indicators of anorexia nervosa. :? She really needs medical help at this stage. :|

She is obviously anorexic. The condition which causes body hair to grow so densely close to the skin is brought about primarily by starvation. I commented on the images at SaltyT - I used to admire Eva for her unique beauty, but I was nearly reduced to tears by that photo. And Wintour's comment made me feel physically sick. It's times like these I despise the fashion industry.

Aww... Poor Eva! I think she looks gorgeous in the LV adds and in editorial but on the catwalk she can look scary esp. if you compare those pics to her wonderbra days!
