3. How do models react when you want to take their picture? What do you have to tell them so the pose is perfect and they smile and look at you?
I am so surprised, so amazed at how generous models are, giving their time and energy to me- an unknown photographer, not knowing who I am working for, perhaps in the middle of their 20th show in 4 days, asking them to do the same thing another photographer just asked them to, while being tugged at by a hairstylist and MUA and sleep deprived and in some cases, being a top model and having a huge pimple or cold sore. And they know there is no guarantee I will photoshop out these blemishes (which I usually do). Models like Jessica Stam and Agyness Deyn always seem to be ready with a beautiful sincere smile. Sometimes all I have to say is: give me some looks, smiles please, energy etc. I was stunned last year to find the very, very aloof Freja Erichsen smiling at me , laughing and even talking to me after 5 seasons and that was because I had a huge whole in my t-shirt and every time I raised my arm (with my off-camera flash in hand) my hairy armpit was visible.

Apparently Mark Reay, the photographer interviewed above, took those backstage pictures of Freja and Heidi at Rock and Republic, so that explains why Freja was laughing so much in those pictures
