I don't think Gemma will be back for another season or two.
If you saw the most recent candids of her you'll note that she needs to get back into shape to work the runways.

Mods don't jump on that, this is not a comment on her weight, merely explaining why Gem might not be back in the spotlight for a few more months.

I'm sure when she does come back she'll do it with a bang! I can't wait!

gemma's had a LOT of exposure in the past few years (obviously...). i haven't been following this thread to waaay back so i don't know if this has been discussed before, but i've been reading sophie ward's blog for a while and can feel a definite negativity towards the fashion industry, probably for using gemma so much. it sounds like our dear gem is happier than she was while in the industry.

for those of us who truly love gemma, and i suspect that there is a considerable number of those amongst us, all that we could ever wish for is her happiness. we all know that if she does decide to come back to the runway, she'll be able to blow everyone away with minimum effort. but for now, i'm content with reading sophie's beautiful words and getting a glimpse of gemma from time to time. she is truly a phenomenon.

Exactly. I adore Gemma, I miss seeing her gorgeous face, however if she chooses not to model again, so be it.

I'm sure if she leaves in the industry we'll see her pop up again on some form of film.
She was incredible in The Black Balloon, and if that can be said for her first big foray into acting, then the best must be yet to come!

mmm.. im pretty sure that was posted on Australian vogue's website December/January, and had been referring to 2008 as the year she took off modelling. Could be wrong, but i think that why they were looking to this show season with added interest.

I miss Gemma news, I'm longing to hear something of her again. I do hope though that she's happy and enjoying having time to herself, no fitting calls, no fashion weeks, no demands imposed upon her at all. Good for her.
