Nascida em Campinas e criada em São José dos Campos, Gracie Carvalho, de 18 anos, começou a carreira há pouco mais de um ano e em 2008 já foi a modelo que mais pisou em passarelas brasileiras. Recém-chegada de uma temporada de trabalho em Nova Iorque, nos Estados Unidos, ela ficou um mês e meio fora de casa e conheceu o exterior pela primeira vez. E se acostumou de vez em ser chamada pela pronúncia americanizada de seu nome, já que em casa ela é Gracie, com som de A mesmo na primeira sílaba. "Falava só um pouquinho de inglês, por conta de um curso que fiz pela agência, e fiquei numa casa só com modelos estrangeiras ", conta ela, que por lá tem contrato com a Marilyn, a mesma das tops Adriana Lima e Carol Trentini. Família de 17 irmãos Filha de uma cozinheira com um mestre de obras, a modelo tem, ao todo, 16 irmãos. “Não imaginava que a vida de modelo fosse tanta ralação, mas o trabalho tem me ajudado a ajudar meus pais”, diz Gracie, sem dinheiro para o primeiro book numa grande agência, fez um acordo para ter o valor debitado em suaves prestações conforme os cachês iam entrando. Namorando há mais de dois anos, ela conta que se acostumou a ficar muito tempo fora de casa. “Ele é tranquilo, só tem ciúme quando tem foto minha com algum modelo”, entrega. Nova York e Paris Entre os trabalhos da modelo estão uma campanha para a GAP, posou para as lentes do fotógrafo Patrick Dermarchelier e a capa da L’Officiel.
