There is very little possibility that anyone starting out today will ever achieve her status, class or longevity.
Absolutely agree Echoes!

And even more, this woman was an embodiment for me & when she left fashion industry in 1998 I lost any interest to fashion at all! I'm very glad she came back!

Wow...Linda has had the same effect on me. Only my 'testimonial' is a little different.

I was always a huge Naomi fan back in the early days when the word 'supermodel' was first coined on a regular basis. Naomi, was, and still is a modeling icon for me. Cindy was the bombshell, Christy was beautiful, Claudia was sexy but Linda was always captivatingly different. She was the 'chameleon' that I admired but I could never figure out why. I knew who these models were, simply because they were household names but never really got into the fashion scene.

In the mid-90s, I worked alongside a young gay male (Jon) at an office in San Francisco, who got bored and easily frustrated with work and would always take time out for a repreive and do impersonations of Linda.

In July of 2001, I walked in a walkathon and ran into Jon's cousin, who sadly informed me that Jon had recently died. All I could picture in my mind was this lively young fellow who adored Linda Evangelista.

From that point onward, I found myself looking for Linda on magazine covers. At the time, I didn't know that she had retired but she made a comeback that following month (August) in the September 2001 issue of Vogue. It wasn't the woman with the outlandish poses that I remembered from the early 90s but it was still a face that I had immediately recognized, and realized I had missed.

I found myself researching Linda on the web and buying up past fashion magazine issues and photos that featured Linda from Ebay.

Why do I admire Linda today? She's still here and looking every bit as stunning as she did back in late 80s and 90s. She's admitted that her age doesn't allow her to fit into every role but she's happy there's still a place for her in today's fashion. The Escada ads certainly can testify to that.

By the way, for those of you who haven't seen the Escada ads (they're in just about every fashion magazine on the stand right now), go to www.escada.com. Escada has some flattering things to say about Linda -- click on 'fashion'.

So here's to the Legendary Linda Evangelista.

Androgeny has always been something Linda has been good at doing. From today's 2006 S/S Escada ad campaign...

ShanaLucas, thanks a lot for wonderful pics. Ms Evangelista is a great actress & her recent work for Escada is irreproachable & very professional as usual!
