glad to see that shes getting better! btw i also read somewhere that a certain popular interior designer on oprah was somewhat involved in the tsunami anyone with any info?

Yeah, there was a man quite frequently featured on the Oprah show that passed away in the Tsunami - I can't remember his name - it was very long, but there was a short feature about his death in the InStyle Issue with Queen Latifah on the cover, I believe.

The designer is Nate Berkus. It was his boyfriend who died. Nate was on Oprah's show after getting home along with the people who rescued him and some others he met in the aftermath. I happened to be home sick that day, watched the show and cried for the entire hour. I'm sure if you google his name you can find more information.

I also saw Petra's Diane Sawyer interview. It was so sad. I cried through that one too. I'm so impressed by the courage these two and so many others have shown in the face of such tragedy.

Petra has teamed up with Supermodel/Celebrity fitness trainer, Oscar Smith, to ensure she gets back in optimal physical condition. (PRWE May 16, 2005 -- Tsunami Supermodel survivor, Petra Nemcova, has decided to return to modeling after a six-month departure from her career. On December 26, 2004, the Sports Illustrated stunner and her boyfriend, Simon Atlee, were in the Thai resort of Khao Lak when last December's deadly tsunami swept them away. Petra survived by clinging to a palm tree for eight hours while suffering a smashed pelvis and internal injuries and tragically, Atlee did not survive. In the immediate months following, Petra had no plans to model again and spent time out of the glamorous scene to be with her family and recuperate in her native Czech Republic.

After almost six months, Petra Nemcova has decided to re-enter the fashion world and steal the spotlight once again. She has returned to her physical fitness trainer, Oscar Smith, to ensure she gets back in top physical form. Oscar has Petra undergoing an injury rejuvenation program and has her following a physical fitness routine that will guarantee she once again rises to the heights of her modeling profession. Petra's main goal is to strut her stuff down the runway and with Oscar Smith's fitness guidance she feels assured. Says Petra, “Training with Oscar is fun! Im sure she has been using all her energy and time to recover from her life threatening injuries.....it is a long and painful process, she nearly died for gosh sakes, she is lucky to be alive, let alone modeling.

You never heard?? It was a well publicized tragedy and heroic tale. Petra and her boyfriend ( who died in the tragedy) were caught in the middle of the tsunami in thailand and Petra was nearly killed while clinging on a tree for dear life with severe injuries for 8 hours before she was rescued. It is an amazing story and she is a strong woman.
