Ruby-Jean came to our attention at RAFW SS1011 castings where she shone amongst the ranks of potential runway stalkers.
She walked thirteen shows this season, with early starts and up way past her bedtime at Romance Was Born, walking with three-inch long fingernails.
At only sixteen she’s doing incredibly well, and with those huge almond eyes,
long long legs and English rose complexion, we see her going a lot further.
“Libra – the scales.”
Where are you from?
“I was born in Scotland and moved to England when I was about five years old.
I moved to Terrigal on the Central Coast of NSW at the age of fourteen.”
What do you do for fun in your city?
“Time and money provided, I love to find little op-shops and vintage stores to find bargains in!
I also love getting coffee in Newtown with my boyfriend, who knows the city like the back of his hand.”
Likes & dislikes?
“Likes – a good bargain, funny people, good coffee,
my best friend and soulmate Milli, wasabi peas!"
“Dislikes – waiting (I have no patience), being cold.”
“I love Agyness Deyn, but there are so many girls I admire.”
Who do you consider your ‘heroes’?
“I’ve never really thought about that.
I suppose the people who work hard every day without complaint simply
because they love what they do.”
Favourite TV show?
“I don’t watch much TV at all. I suppose Rage,
Oh no actually I never miss Man Vs. Wild on a Monday night! Hilarious!”
“There are a few: It’s all Gone Pete Tong, This is England, and Trainspotting.”
“Most of the clothes I wear I get from op-shops –
but I’m wearing my new Romance Was Born cardigan all the time!
I love their work, Anna and Luke are great.”
What are you listening to at the moment?
“I refreshed my i-pod with some old Nirvana,
I always love Crystal Castles and then there’s the clubby kind of stuff.”
If you could be superhero, which one would you be?
“I don’t know but the super power I’ve decided I’d like the most is a time watch – a watch that stops time.”
“Biting my fingernails.”
“Being with friends, shopping in Woy Woy.”
“I should read more. The book, Journey of Souls by Dr. Michael Newton is life changing.”
How and when did you begin modeling?
“In October last year (2009).
I was spotted and told to send in some photos.
I was so shy back then I got a nervous flush!”
What agency are you represented by?
Who have you been shot by?
“Harold David, Emmanuel Girard, Daniel Smith, Tanja Bruckner.”
Biggest achievement so far?
“The amount of shows I got at RAFW SS1011 really surprised me.
I think getting through the week in one piece was an achievement in itself,
but a lot of girls did more than me. Hats off to them.
I was so exhausted! But at the same time I had SO much fun.”
