Describe what you do for a living in one sentence.
“I am one big show that never gets a dress rehearsal."
Who is your favourite designer of all time?
“Easy, Yves Saint Laurent ... makes me squeal.”
Shoes for fashion week: heels or flats?
“Heels. ALWAYS heels. Are you kidding?”
Best emergency beauty tip?
“Laughing, it will make you feel more beautiful than anything else ever could at the last minute.”
Are you a throw-on-an-outfit-on-the-day or plan-the-week-before type person?
“I love to plan outfits, or more accurately, entire looks with specific themes and moods! But I tend to save them til I have somewhere worthy to wear them or I can get someone to photograph them. On a day-to-day basis, I have so many incredible little dresses, tights and heels I tend to just put on any combination of those and feel great.”
What your best survival secret to getting through fashion week?
“My friends, sleep, food and just focusing on the job at hand, oh, and having fun of course, otherwise what the hell are we all doing here?”
What are the best and worst things about Sydney fashion week?
“Some of the highlights are seeing familiar faces and working with friends, the chilled attitude and getting a first peek and making mental notes about what you’re going to be buying and wearing as soon as you can! The lows are the long hours, painful hair and makeup changes and the odd lacklustre collection ... but I guess that goes for all fashion weeks [around the world].”
Any hot tips for us on the fashion front?
“I have one hot tip for everyone ... stop playing it so God damn safe and have some fun! Put the theatrics back into fashion and give us a rush of blood to the head because that’s why most of us got into this industry: for the thrills and frivolity of it all. Now deliver!”
