I thought I spotted Valentine in the background of an Alex Turner candid the other week, but decided it wasn't worth posting about. It was her though!

I'm not a native speaker so it's not perfect! Will try to get to the rest soon.
First page of Jalouse: Your childhood in three lines? - Born in Paris, grew up in the Marais. I took applied arts classes at Auguste-Renoir that I didn't finish. I stopped at 16 because I had already been working for awhile as a model and I left for London. Model, how and why? - With Benetton at 15, a photographer noticed me, signed me up with an agency and that's how it all started. On to London, when and why? - In 2001, I fell in love with the city. And then, I was working a lot for Dazed and Confused, i-D, Another Magazine, with photographers like Alexander Huseby and stylist Katie England. You have worked in fashion as a model, stylist, cosultant, muse. Between fashion and you, it's a love story? - In a certain way, since I always worked inside. That began with my designer friend Charles Anatase, with whom I worked as a consultant, and that continued with being a stylist for Dazed, Lula with the launching of Mixte. And now? - I continue working only with Charles. And then, well I work in fashion, I dress whoever, that doesn't interest me. I only love the object, the clothing. Where does your passion for "the object" come from? - Maybe from my childhood... I was always fascinated with objects that age with us. And then, my mother is an excellent semstress/dressmaker who made us magnificent clothes... What direction is your life going in? - It's a little crazy, right now. I have a lot of projects (travels, music, movies). I live as a dilettante. I live alone and so I always find myself modeling, because I have to pay the bills. Things take time to figure out. What attracts you most? - Music, but I don't want to become cliché, so I prefer to wait [to pursue that]. What music do you follow? - Moussorgski. Literature: a little, a lot, not at all? - I'm reading again Les Yeux Beus, cheveux noirs (Blue eyes, black hair) by Marguerite Duras, which I love, and Fernando Pessoa is my obsession. Last purchase? - A grey school-girl hat. I love having something on my head, especially since I'm blonde now and I have roots! Your life philosophy? - You have to really see how everything connects and you must know how to forget. If you leave london, what will you miss? - The freedom, the gypsy side, even if it is a violent city.

http://dirrtyglam.com/images/6.jpg http://dirrtyglam.com/images/7.jpg http://dirrtyglam.com/images/8.jpg sorry about the ****ty translation ![]() Valentine, who are you? I'm french, parisian. I grew up in le Marais and I was spending every week-end in the countryside at my grandparents. I was in a artistic highschool (?) until my 16 and a half, I left for London at 17. Did modelling "just happened" or was it a childhood dream ? I did my first shooting for Benetton at 14, thanks to Brice Campagnon, and that's how it began... Fashion is one of my passions since I was a child but I had never imagined I would model, I was only 1m67 at the time and I did not grow up much actually.. How do you choose your shooting, your collaborations? What are your working preferences? When it comes to stylism, people usually come to me and as it's not my job I like to keep things very personal so I work with my friends... we have a different view on people we love. You seem to be very connected to the fashion world, what got you interested in it? Clothing is an amazing way to express yourself. What are your projects, what do you want for the months to come? To keep working closely with Charles Anastase, keep playing records because it's fun and a good way to get pocket money, sun, L.A and a lot of things... Born in Paris, you moved to London, are you a traveller at heart? I travalled a lot while modelling, that must be what I like the most about that work. Inspirations and fashion icons: 1968, Coco Chanel, attics, GTO, Eva Hesse, Bauhaus, Marguerite Duras, Kurt Cobain, Woody Allen Favourite places: Amoeba Record shop in L.A, rough trade records, scotts primrose, the landsomme in London, whole foods market In her Ipod: right now The Gun Club, The feelies, the wake up, metronomy, Pixies, Glass Candy, Scott Walker, Brahms, Liszt Her dressing-room: Shirts, knitwear, lots of large things, and too-small things. Lots of vintage, APC, Charles Anastase from every seasons. Acne Jeans. Chanel, h&m, vivienne westwood, marc by marc jacobs, gap, isabelle marant, miu-miu. Her make-up: chanel eyebrow palette, vitalumiere, fluid eyeliner from MAC, and anti-cellulite oil and rose deodorant from Weleda, seaweed mask from Kiehl's, anti-wrinkle: day, night, i change all the time. Favourite fashion pieces: Chanel bicolores and a tartan shirt that i got from my mom's. Dirrty or Glam? definitely dirrty! credit: www.dirrtyglam.com |

A little blurb in this month's Nylon
What are you wearing? Gap T-shirt, Karen Walker jeans, and an Evil Eye necklace. What's your style? Coco Chanel, if she was Kurt Cobain's grandma. Where are you from? Paris. How often do you party? I party too much. |
