Bottega Veneta!
I stopped by the store yesterday and the white hobo (hole-y woven one) was gorgeous

Ok, I finally got my black cerf tote from Sydney instead where I am now to save on the price due to the tourist tax rebate.

(My apologies first of all to baghag for the trouble she went to help me get one from Chanel SG )

The weird thing is that the SA there told me that the bag is made from calfskin and not deerskin. And yup, they did seem confused at first when I asked for the "cerf" tote. The SA that I emailed to reserve the tote had gone home for the night. The first SA I talked to thought I was asking for the "surf" tote?!! (Hello...like what the??? )

I thought too that it would be deerskin, and not calfskin. If it helps, the leather is "pebbley". There is also a detachable zippered compartment and shoulder strap. Not sure if I saw those in the cerf tote which I saw in Singapore. (I saw the camel one)

Upon recollection, I think the cerf that I saw in Singapore had smoother leather....now I am a tad confused

chiangsi1980- It sounds like you got caviar leather. That is their regular grainy pebbly leather.

I know calf is what they use on their cambon line, and lamb on their 2.55 line as well as caviar leather.

I think the caviar is a really good choice. My latest Chanel purse is made of it. It is supposed to be scratch resistant. I think that is great for something you might carry often, or slugg paper around in.

As long as the outside style looks the same as you want, I'd keep it in caviar!

Definitely! I am already in love with my cerf, and the leather is definitely a lot less delicate than my red 2.55.

Oh well, whatever it is made of, I am just so happy that I finally got the bag!

congrats! are you certain you don't have the cerf? the detachable pouch and strap are pretty distinctive to this bag. it's textured, not smooth like regular calfskin, but it's not pebbly like the caviar. also, it doesn't have the slight sheen that the caviar leather has. I would think it would have a card that says what it's made of. if you want, I can ask my mom what hers says. I know it doesn't matter, but wouldn't you like to know anyway?

Yes, that would be nice of you ..thanks
Searched throughout the bag, but there isn't a card that states what it's made of.
I should probably try to post photos when I can

I am pretty certain that I do have the cerf.
I guess the leather can be described as textured - one things's for sure, the leather is not smooth.
I guess I am just confused as to the fact that it is supposed to be made out of deerskin (due to its name) as opposed to the fact that it is supposed to be made out of calfskin, as what the SA said.

But then, why would the leather be "pebbley"/textured then?
And well, there's every possibility that the SAs may have gotten their facts wrong.. so...

That's the cerf! I have the bag also- the leather is not exactly smooth, but it's not pebbled like the carviar. It just has a texture to it.
