i love the fashion spot,
but ...how you can say, just by looking at the pic if the are fake or not ?
some of them is obvious when they are fake...even i can say that.
well if someone asks the TFS community if a bag is fake, they are asking for our opinions just by looking at a photo. i doubt anyone would really bet their lives on it, but for some people its nice to know others opinion just out of curiosity.

you ask "how you can say, just by looking at the pic if the are fake or not ?" well i can almost always tell because of the hours i have spent looking at pics of fake bags on ioffer and authentic bags on TFS and other websites that sell authentic bags. for some people like myself, handbags are like a hobby so its extremely easy to spot a fake.

you dont trust our opinions on whether or not a bag is real, then dont ask. i mean this isnt our job or anything, we are just speculating.

and even if we are wrong and a bag turns out to be real, wouldn't you rather be safe than sorry?

Better to be safe then sorry because it is hard to get your money back if it does turn out to be fake.

So I was ALL EXCITED about a recent purchase on ebay... and today the bag finally arrived. After taking a closer look, I started to question its authenticity. Here's a picture I took myself... If someone could PLEASE help me out, I would be forever grateful! Being new to the whole ebay purse buying experience, I believe I may have fallen victim to a FAKE...

Link to the ebay item I bought: NO ebay links please

unlike many eBay auctions, this seller doesn't even claim it's authentic -- did you get a representation that it is and that you will get a refund if it's not? he/she doesn't even say it's python, but leather. and notice that the tag isn't for this bag (it says "small cabas noir"). and as suspected the price is too low for a bag that retails for over $2,000 (but $500 is too much for a regular leather fake). sorry.

I would also point out that none of this seller's feedback is for high-priced merchandise, let alone designer bags -- it's all for cheap stuff. that's why positive feedback can't be your sole guide in deciding to buy off eBay.

I feel like SUCH a dumba**!!! Ever since I received this bag I started analyzing it, and I realized that the site didn't claim authenticity... and that it did say LEATHER (python in the title)... Regardless, this is a FAKE Chloé, so I can definitely dispute it... Correct me if I'm wrong, but if it says CHLÓE PYTHON SILVERADO, and it isn't an authentic Chloé bag, I am being misled. My grounds for a refund is that it isn't an authentic Chloé bag, right? THANK YOU!!!!

I think it depends on what the seller represented (keeping in mind that the auction is a contract). if he/she said something that was untrue that induced you to buy the bag, then it's fraud and you can get your money back (at least theoretically -- if the seller refuses and you can't dispute the charge on a credit card you will probably have to sue). however, if you got exactly what the seller represented (i.e., an inauthentic leather bag) then you don't have a fraud claim and I don't believe eBay will get involved. but in any case try negotiating with the seller. unless they're total crooks, most sellers want to avoid negative feedback so it can't hurt to ask if you can return it and get a refund (less shipping).

Right, I know it depends on what the seller represented, which is what I told her in the e-mail... that she said she was selling a Chloé bag, which wasn't the case since this was a fake. I sell bags on ebay, and when I sell a certain brand, I am selling THAT brand and not a fake... Well, I have already sent her an e-mail. My next step is to file a claim through PayPal and ebay... hopefully I will get something back. I should have known better... Thanks so much for your help!

Hi, I'm new in here, joined mostly because I just got hugely ripped off on ebay by paying an authentic price for an abviously replica Fendi Spy. Makes me so angry that people have the bare faced cheek to list the item and 'Geniune, Authentic' when they quite blatently are not. Unfortunately for me the item I rec'd was not the one in the picture. Never mind a lesson learnt the hard way for me! In future I will only buy my bags from the store!

Why don't you ask for a refund? That's what I'm doing and the seller has agreed to it. You should check out the forum "scammed?," which has many helpful hints and links. You should also dispute the charges with PayPal, ebay and even your credit card company if the seller refuses to provide you witha refund. From what I have learned here in the forums is that these sellers do not want negative feedback and many of them will get scared when you mention the words Fraud, illegal, etc.

the Fashion Spot > the Finishing Touches > Handbags > scammed?

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have actually asked for a refund and the seller has finally agreed after offering me another bag for free! Think that confirms my point. Have had to DHL the bag back to her, only agreed after I said I was reporting to my credit card and ebay. Another kind seller recommended that I go through that process and then recommended that I join this site. Some people really are geniunely helpful.

Regarding buying second hand designer bags... what sites do you recommend? I am trying to get rid of a bunch of old bags and I have no idea where to sell them. I have been following some forums and some say that the price shouldn't be super low for a designer label... but the bag is used... so what do I do? Thanks!

I don't know how legit this site is but you can try selling it at Luxury Vintage. Here's the link: http://www.efashionhouse.com/index.php?ichangeid=1 . Also, you price shouldn't be too low. It really depends on it's condition. If it's mint, them keep it close to retail.
