Haha...I wouldn`t make the "forgive me for I know not what I do" argument. That is just embarrassing.[/quote]

I agree that Fakes can be produced in any part of the world.....But if there's any,In Europe or America for instance,TheBusiness wont last long,Law Enforcements in those countries already very strict towards this kind of Illegal Business.
But China???? I see with my own eyes when I went to Guong Zhou for a business trip with my husband and mom,Mom took me to this Huge Shopping Complex,I forgot the name,ALL I see In there are all LOCAL MADE FAKES:......Even A few of their factories are just nearby,And the one thing that I Found really annoying is I heard from a local, that There are even Corrupted Police Officers guarding the Shopping Complex and Factories,"Protecting them",or warn them maybe,Just in case if there's a Raid.
$90% of the fake Everything(NOT just bags,I found Hermes Scarves,Rock n Republic VB Jeans, and hundreds more)....Are From China.

in fact many of the fake bags over here are made in italy with pretty much the same quality as the original.. which is even worse.
i cant stand fakes. nowadays a fake balenciaga here costs no less than 300 Euros here

Ive seen alot of girls carrying a purse very similar to the chanel 2.55 and when I ask they all say its authentic and they all bought them at the same vintage stores for only $80.
Anyone else think thats a little odd?
Could it be that they are all real?
I must admit I am a sucker for fake designer accessories.
Purses on the other hand Id like to be authentic.
Therefore I have none, but Im currently saving so I can buy one for my 20th birthday.

^ aww... that is nice, it will make you appreciate it so much more, and when people give you looks because you are young then you will know its real.

I think the fake business is because people want to reach for an ideal... without the bank account lol. With that said I don't like logo bags...

sorry guys ut this is the first time i access this thread, I had no idea it was for fakes!
quick question (no offense to anyone), but dont you feel if you buy a fake design you are actually ripping off some one's creativity? i mean there is one thing if its a similar design- but these ppl are copying it 100%..it seems soo wrong..one can just buy a great bag with a great design..alot of stores and department stores offer great nondesigner bags..then shelling out money to get a fake one?!! it just seems soo wrong to me :X

Other than the quality thats the reason I dont buy them, I feel wrong and dishonest. And I read an article in harpers that many fakes are made my slave labor?? But I guess people think its wrong and dishonest to change those prices

155 on a new genuine leather, mirror copy bag isn't a lot of money considering material & labor costs--but it is if you can get a similar 80s/used/vintage bag from ebay.
retail prices on genuine items are ridiculous (like guessgirl said), but yer point on slave-wage labor making these bags is a good one for sure.
miu miu or bbag designers aren't losing out that much because their core audience certainly aren't the non-wealthy patrons of high replica bags.

There is a thread for discussions about how dishonest the people who buy fake bags are and how many Chinese tenyearolds it takes to make a stam bag. It is not this one.

For anyone interested in exploring the background of the replica bag industry -- especially for those wishing to engage in an informed discussion of the legal and ethical issues -- I strongly recommend the following books:
"Deluxe: How Luxury Lost its Luster" by Dana Thomas
"The Cult of the Luxury Brand" by Radha Chadha & Paul Husband
"KnockOff, The Deadly Trade in Counterfeit Goods" by Tim Phillips

Three points that have been previously made on this forum are worth repeating:
1/ Buying replica handbags is legal in the USA.
2/ There is no evidence of the use of slave labor in the Chinese factories which manufacture replica handbags.
3/ There is no evidence of a link between Chinese-made replica handbags and the funding of terrorist activity.

Hey Blondes, your English is spot on! -- as is your sense of humor!

There's a very strong possibility that the same Chinese 10-year-old (ok, 18-year-old) is making the authentic Stam bag as well as the replica one...The book "DeLuxe" discusses how many European and US designers are now quietly or even secretly manufacturing handbags in China. Some of them "finish" the bags (e.g., attach the handle) in Italy or France, allowing the "Made in Italy" tag to be legally affixed, while others simply illegally attach that "Made in France" tag to their Chinese-manufactured bags. Prada and Celine are two of the design houses which are known to quietly manufacture leather accessories in China, and of course Coach is well-known for its Chinese manufacturing; but apparently there are many others which manufacture wholly or partially in China although they claim otherwise.

It's rather silly to think that any product you will buy can possibly be "fair trade" or treat the factory workers fairly and equally. All products have a negative effect on the person making and the environment, etc.

However, buying fake goods does certainly hurt the company that rightfully should make profit off of the bag. And buying a dozen fake cheap bags is certainly worse than buying a real bag. I

Has anyone seen this yet? I hope this is not a repost.

This is from The Tyra Banks Show: How to Spot a Fake Purse.

http://telepicturesblog.warnerbros.c...ake_purse.html

I laughed when I saw the Fendi B Bag with a Prada logo
I'd totally laugh if I saw a person carrying that bag because they have no idea that it's not suppose to be Prada and they bought it!!!
FAKE!
