Hi mikeijames. How do you "prove otherwise"? Please give us the benefit of your expert knowledge. I'm not sure what the copyright laws are like in your country but they are pretty hot on it in the UK and Companies such as Gucci and Prada work hard to protect their brand image by taking a lot of legal action. Just because an item is reasonably priced does not automatically make it a fake. Small Internet based Companies charge less than High Street outlets for two reasons:
1) They do not have the massive overheads of a High Street outlet and can reduce their margins.
2) If they charged the same (or near) price to High Street shops they would not sell a single item.
If what you say is true then every book that Amazon sells must be a bootleg!
The harsh truth is that there are a lot of fakes out there and a lot of them are so good that they are IDENTICAL to the real thing. The only thing that sometimes lets them down is the quality control. So the only real way to ensure that an item is not a fake is to buy from a reputable retailer. So what makes a reputable retailer? It's not a mega flash website or a massive office in the latest hi-tech building, it's not even 24 hour telephone contact numbers. What makes a Company reputable is their ability to deliver what they promise. In the case of online retailers it should be:
- Informative product descriptions
- Clear pricing
- Good communication
- Clear and concise sales and returns policy
- Fast and efficient turn around of orders
- An established Company
The Internet is also a powerful tool. If a Company is selling fake items you can bet your bottom dollar that somebody will have posted a complaint or warning. Failing this in the UK we have a Government organisation called Trading Standards who are there to protect the consumer. If somebody is selling fakes then they will know about it. So if you've done all your research and still can't be sure if a bag is real then do not buy it. But do not assume it is a fake and make postings claiming that it “probably is a fake” you could be wrong and affecting somebody’s livelihood!!

I HATE fake bags. It ruins it for the rest of us who have real ones. I don't buy any of the designer bags from eBay bacuse you will never really know if it's real. I crack up when I see little girls walking around with fake LV bags and thinking they're hot s*ht. hehe.

Are the bags at Citymoda.com fake? Considering some of the prices of the bags are half of what the retail price is or more.

I personally love this bag (Tod's) , ever since I saw it in Raising Helen I've been in love with it, haha.

Anyways, would really appreciate it if anyone knows the answer of my question.

Tell me why I did not know they moved my thread in here, I thought I had gotten in trouble for mentioning TJ MAXX. I am glad to hear the TJ maxx doesnt sell fakes but you start to wonder I got the bag really cheap the store manager charged me $80.00 because it was the last one and it had no price tag. The bag is leather in is rather large so I was shocked when he said $80.00 (so was the sales associate).

I'm not really sure, the pics are too unclear to make a strong judgement.

I've read on another forum (not luxfash) that some girls ordered some items, the items were faulty so they took them to the actual store and turns out what they purchased online were not authentic

I think there is a topic on this already. Just scroll down a bit and you should be able to find it.
