how would you spot a fake right away??

Hi,
i recieve it as a gift and it looks great! the leather is soft and slouchy and it has all the markings. but my question is, is the hardware suposed to be silver or metal? i am sot sure about this and it's been awhile since i went to barneys to take a look... also, how would you spot a fake right away??

The finishing touches, the surface is something that can be hard to get exactly right in my experience.

Can you post a pic? It's almost impossible to tell whether it's a fake or not without a pic of the bag. I mean there are some really good fakes out there these days.
