Is the chain with the lanvin logo detachable ? I'm still undecided if I like it with or without the dangly chain.

I don't think the chain's detachable.. I kinda thought the chain adds a bit of antiqueness to the whole look..

the chain does not come off, but I would never want to -- it makes the bag special. this bag is by no means "long" and when I called barneys about it with only a general description ("lanvin tote"), the SA knew it was this one and didn't mention any other sizes. perhaps you were looking at another style?

Thanks Feefi and Lily! I can see what you mean. For me it's just that I'm not used to having a lot of gold hardware on a bag. But the look is def growing on me and the leather looks so amazing.

nope. it was the same bag.
i suppose it was just longer irl than it looks in the pictrues i've seen..
maybe it starts to look shorter the more you fill it? i don't know, but it was the same bag, and it looked long to me.
the price on the one i saw was $1700. i saw in the other thread you said it was $1600....
so maybe there's a longer version...? maybe a slightly different style? i don't know. but it looked exactly the same, but longer.

There ARE two sizes of the Lanvin bag. The larger one is very long, about 6 inches longer than the more traditional tote.

THANK YOU!!
that makes so much more sense than it just being the same bag, but interpreted in different ways...lol.

cos seriously, i loved the bag when i saw it in pictures with lindsay (even the newest ones from the PSP event where she had it..) and the one i saw was definately longer, and i didn't like it as much....so i was confused as to why i liked it on her, but irl, not so much...now that i know it was the longer version, i can understand why! haha

The larger one is called Vintage Kentucky and its 16" x 16". I have it in black and don't know whether or not I want to keep it.

Its the length. I carry my work stuff in a large LV monogram tote. I want to use this as a purse/handbag and I am concerned that if I carry the Lanvin and the LV it looks like I am carrying 2 totes, although the LV tote is clearly bigger overall. That's why I am on the fence. Otherwise it is a great bag - great leather.
