In all I like the silver hardware on the new model better, I sold my black 05 b/c the all gold hardware was hard for me to incorporate with my wardrobe. I'm not sure if I like the rods where the handles attach, the 05 Kansas didn't have this & it was a cleaner look. At any rate, I think the blue with brown is a great combination & makes it a very unique bag, so I'm happy.
I think those rods where the handles are attached are so that if you were to carry the bag by the canvas strap, the handles would fall down against the bag. They should also help eliminate wear and tear (bending) of the handles. I like them okay - it's a clean design that mimics the shape of the clasp. I guess the canvas strap is so that you could carry it messenger style - maybe "whoever" thought that that would make the bag more versatile - the canvas strap does make it look more casual (take it off - then it looks more refined). BUt I'm with you - I'd take the canvas strap off too. Anyway - I REALLY like it. The color is gorgeous!! Congrats!! (I should have mine by Tues. )

I was thinking the same thing about the robs on the handles, I noticed the wear on that part of the handles where they bend. I dont mind the rods but I do like the bag better w/o them, and I like the old coin better as well. But overall, I love the turcoise leather brown, it's such a pretty color. I'm thinking if I should sell my black to get the turcoise...

I like the color combo Burkesilver - very unique. The strap is a nice option, but I agree the bag doesn't need it. I can't wait to see a black one ... Maybe I'll have to check Barney's again.

As of this afternoon, Barney's NY has the all black Kansas as well as the Turquoise one like Burkesilver's. I'm opting out on the '06 version, tho the black is kinda tempting ... I think I'm getting a black Muse bag instead.

there are a couple extremely gorgeous lanvin bags sitting at barneys right now. one is a patent satchel in different colors of brown, turquoise, black, etc w/ a magnetic closure. the other is a smaller brown patent shoulder bag. if i weren't on shopping detox, i would have picked up the satchel in a heartbeat. it is soooooooooo cool.

seriously i think i was crazy to pass this satchel up. it is soooooo unbelievably funky and beautiful. i love when lanvin goes a little funky --the lines and proportions are so flawless that the piece is that much more edgey...

anyway, i will tell you i am crazy for not buying that bag. the reason is it was i think $2400 and all i could think is that i could probably pick it up for $1500 in paris. for some reason i cannot get over it when they don't equalize the prices. i have a neurosis about this.
