aw shucks. I have see the nappa in person and it's lovely -- kind of like the calf leather on the chanel cambon bags (soft but not so delicate as lamb). and it really highlights the jewel colors like purple and burgundy. but like I said, even the boutiques don't have that many. in fact, I think some of the bags (like the large multipocket) were special order only. this was several months ago so I imagine they're very hard to get now. as for the ice leather, I prefer it less but it is probably more scratch resistant. I would like a small nappy multipocket in ivory -- that would be ideal!

Thanks for your description, at least now I know what it feels like ! I've been in love with the black multi-pocket for the longest time. A white would be lovely too although I'm not sure if the brass and white combo is really me.

[quote=LilyGirl]the nappa is the smooth leather, which for particular styles is exclusively available from the boutiques and even they only have a limited supply. the more common leather (and the one the department stores carry) is the shiny textured leather which mj calls "ice". QUOTE]

ooops...sorry i think your right. ..is the textured leather like a pebbled leather or is it different than a pebbled leather texture?

congrats junkie ! I called the mj boutique in ny and they said they would only be getting limited quantities of the black and taupe nappa, not the ice leather, and the waiting list is full so all the bags are spoken for.

great pics...love that color is the leather vintagey/weathered or is it the picture? if its vintage, i love it...can't wait for my taupe!

i couldn't resist and ended up buying the black also. thing is , is that i'm also on the wait list for taupe and black smooth/nappa, so won't be able to use my bags until i decide which ones i want:/

i wonder if the nappa is vintagey like that...think ill give them a call.

its really weird leather! when i was in italy i went to the leather tanneries and saw how they do all of the faux croc detailing and color layers and stuff for dooney and bourkes nile line and a bunch of coachs leather orders. i still cant figure this out. it almost has a candy-ed effect to it, if that makes any sense at all....its like a pebbled leather but extremely glossy, and so it picks up different colors in different light...its like a putty taupe color, but underneath the darker taupe there's like a lighter color...the only thing i could compare it to would be like a candy apple or glosses in oil paints.... i know that sounds weird, but that's as close as i can get....i think the textured leather does look more vintagey, and i think i prefer it over the smooth...it doesn't have any weathering...but the way it caught the light it almost looks that way....all i can say is that i'm totally in love and it will go with so many colors and it looks FAB with jeans! (which is what i live in!) im so happy with it!!

oh, and eclecticbags....i was in the same situation, couldn't decide if i liked the black or taupe better, but the taupes so unique a color that i think you should definately keep one! lucky gal! you get two! hahahaha
