Thanks so much for the pictures, Luxx, and congrats! I ADORE that bag, I'm really interested in finding a petrol-colored one (already have more than enough black bags!). I only wish that it weren't so expensive... the $1,000 mark is a totally new one for me, TFS is SO dangerous! We'll see what happens if I can track one down to try on in person...

Wait, let me get this straight. Models "dont have presence" but he still names handbags after them? Come on Marc, lets stop the contradiction.

Where is this model's don't have presence quotation from? Is it in reference to ad campaigns or just in general? It is a contradiction but he must like them at least on some level. Stam has been in his ads and many of his bags are named after models. Even his beloved Sofia was once a model. Karolina, Stella, Daria and Christy all have bags too so I don't think he's exactly adverse to models. Though I suppose he could be, stranger things have happened. Many directors hate actors so perhaps a fashion designer could dislike models as well. Perhaps Marc just put his foot in his mouth, he has done so before.

Back to bags: I love it in the creme color

A while back when being asked about why he uses celebs in his LV adverts he says its because models nowadays dont have presence. The real reason he uses celebs is the mere fact that they are celebrities, no real asthetic reason, just for the bottom line. I dont know how the journalist didnt break out laughing, I know I would have, after hearing that BS.

I personally dislike MJ because he tries to pass himself off as a clever, witty and sharp. He is nothing more than a stylist, perhaps even a name maybe? Who knows about his inclusion...

Thanks, Diorling. Sounds like Marc putting his foot in his mouth. I personally like him alot but I must admit he has this tendency to say things that are just plain off. I agree that LV's use of celebrities is all about bottom line and exposure, there are so many good models around right now so the whole lacking presence thing makes no sense. Celebrities in ad campaigns is an unfortunate epidemic that I hope will run its course very soon.

I checked out the cream colored Stam today at Bloomies and its lovely. Very rich in color and unique looking, if I didn't already have the black I would get it in cream. I've yet to see the Petrol blue up close but I'd like to see it as well, might stop by the Marc store this week sometime. I recieved several nice compliments wearing this bag around today. I was entirely flabbergasted and no doubt sheepish but it was nice nonetheless.

I wish Marc Jacobs would come out with less bag designs and focus on strengthening and building THOSE few designs rather than coming out with too many designs, some of which don't do too well and go on sale a few months later.

Congrats on your bag Luxx, I think the Stam might be one of his bag hits yet!

funny.. the first thing i thought of when i heard about this bag was .. wasn't that the designer who said models these days no longer have presence?

and now.. he's naming multiple bags after them..

i went to the mj boutique to check out the petrol.
i love it. but i'm still as yet undecided (on color, only. I KNOW i need the bag!! lol).....
they said that the bag is gonna be rereleased soon in the other leather (didn't give me a time frame! lol), in the violet, bordeaux, pearl, and then petrol, again.
hopefully they'll call me when they come in, cos i really wanna check out all my choices before deciding....
but as of now, i'm loving the taupe...and petrol was GORGEOUS....but i still don't know..
