Got my black stam today. It's so cute. I must say, not heavy at all without the chain. With the chain... well, it sure isn't Balenciaga or Fendi Spy, but it's not too bad. Question is whether or not I can live with "not too bad".

boymom, do you mean you don't like the bag with the chain strap attached or the bag isn't what you expected in general?

No, I meant that with the chain attached it's a bit HEAVY, especially compared to my balenciagas and spy!!! I think it's adorable. The weight thing is a big issue for me though, so I'm either gonna leave the chain off or... suffer for the cute-ness. When the chain is actually on my shoulder, though, rather than dangling and looking good, it's somehow not toooooo bad. Maybe because the chain is the heavy part... and if it's on the shoulder it's distributed differently than "hanging" weight. Hope that makes sense. Without the chain, the bag is pretty light. (I do like the look of the chain - it's simply about weight.) But overall, I think it is darling!!!! Photos taken outdoors, with and without flash, and smushed a bit into my garden chair...

If the Stam bags are so hard to find, does that mean that the ones that pop up on NM.com/BG.com from time to time are most likely returns? Also, my SA @ NM is working on finding me a taupe stam. If she finds one, would that most likely be a return as well?

I'm terrified of returns after the fiasco over the summer where there were crumbs and pet hairs in the pocket of a bag I got from Nordstrom.

The guy at BG.com told me today they are expecting another "shipment" but that those bags are all pre-ordered. So, I suppose it's possible the bags that "pop up" are returns, but those pop-ups could also be bags due in the newest shipment OR a bag that was previously pre-ordered, but the pre-order was cancelled.

Will the stam be coming out in the purple color? I saw a little stam in the purple color on ebay but I'm wondering if it will come in the large size as well. If I cant find the blue, I think I would like the purple over black. Does anyone know when, if it is, coming out? If it's next year I think I'll get the black to hold me off until I can get the purple, and then sell the black... Thanks a lot!

Guessgirl, unfortunately, the purple was one of the first colors to come out for F/W 05 and has sold out. The order of colors was:
purple, burgundy, gold
petrol, black, taupe

Thanks for the info! I actually never knew the burgundy and purple came out, and I never even knew there was gold. I thought the black, taupe, and petrol were from the first batch. Oh well, hopfully I'll find the blue that I really want

Guessgirl, I always refer to the marcjacobs.com website. He has pics of all his bags in all the various colors so it's a great reference. I also forgot to list pearl, and the official color name for the purple is violet.
