in the town I grew up in, very small beach community in Florida, guys could not carry a bag. Maybe a messenger or a backpack to school or something... but nothing else. I'm pretty sure there would be some fights or words about it. But here in Honolulu, I haven't seen any problems in town, the country is another thing altogether.

I remember a picture of Heath Ledger carrying a shoulder bag (more like a big totelike bag) in a teeny bop magazine and them being like HE CARRIES A PURSE!!

A man wearing a bag here is verrrrrrry contreversial.

Does nobody think that a Vuitton Suhali L'Marveilluse bag would look great if carried by a confident chic man?

hmmm, i dont think i have seen it...any pictures ?

to be honest, the suhali line might have too much hardware for a man to carry off...imho

Oh, I don't know why I said L'Marveilluse. It is the L'Imprevisible.

i find that this younger generation of males...25yrs and under...are generally more liberal and fashion conscious...they are more interested in fashion and gender bending than previous generations...

which is a good thing imo...
but i have to admit that i would look sideways at a man wearing what i consider to be a "purse"...the proportions would be off...i love messenger bags on men...something about the strap across the chest is very attractive...

My buddy Daisuke has a couple of Murses. My favorite is this slouchy, black and white checkered thing that he has about [insert ridiculously huge number here] of punk-ish pins on. According to him, most young guys in Japan have Murses because there's no sort of sexual stigma that goes with it over there.

I don't know if Murses will catch on in America, but for the record a lot of dudes have asked Daisuke where he got his bag.

That Vuitton seems to be ideal for like a business bag.

How fabulous. I think a Birkin in a large size makes for a fine travel carry-all.

I hope it becomes socially acceptable everywhere in the US, but if it ever does, it'll be awhile...

I have just been back from Moscow and every men/boy/male there wears a small bag, shoulder or not. It was a big surprise, although the bags are not feminine nor "fashionable":-) Russian people have to carry some id docs with themself so that is the reason.

Btw, the "walking male part" of streets in Moscow and St. Peter look just great, in a lot of prints, colors and dyes. The driving have exp. cars and those rather matter:-)
